Religious Extremists Of Any Faith, ShouldBe Deemed Clinically Insane
I am not a scientist of any kind, so I do not claim to know how the universe came to be, but to think that a "invisible being" actually cares about what everybody eats, what day they rest on, who they lay in bed with, etc. Etc.....is actually, in the true sense of the word, insane. I can understand when someone is a Deist, the universe is such an awe-inspiring thing, but to follow any religion "by the book" should be considered a mental deficiency.

Yes I agree. Cult leaders who mesmerize their followers know very well how they drive them insane.

Fine. Come get me. But you also should be clinically insane for your extremism to not support any view that we have. =) We view you to be just as extreme. Our view should count just as much as yours.

Mental illness certainly explains those who claimed to see "demons" and kill a kid during an "exorcism" where others saw attention deficit disorder that was treatable. If someone claimed to see fairies at the end of his garden and that "the clouds in the sky are talking to me!!!!" the person would be locked away.

"Men think epilepsy divine, merely because they do not understand it. But if they called everything divine which they do not understand, why, there would be no end to divine things."

I don't consider devout Atheists, who are people of faith, to be clinically insane.

Devout Atheists (like Cephus and K9) have irrational faith that all of the order in nature, except that made by people/animals, is the result of mere accidents.
It is ridiculous to believe that the second law of thermodynamics was an accident, as I am willing to argue with someone who will likely respond with an insult.

I think this statement is clinically insane...

"I can understand when someone is a Deist, the universe is such an awe-inspiring thing"

I kinda thought the universe was such an awe-inspiring thing to everyone but me.

I'm completely against religious extremism, but I think labelling it "clinically insane" is wrong. Religion is very much a sociopolitical artifact, it's not like the person invented the extreme belief on their own and walk around in a self-delusion no one else understands or believes. It's not insanity. Wrong? In many cases. Too extreme? Agree with you there. Stupid, dangerous, destructive? Sometimes. But still not "clinically insane".
