Illegal Aliens Should Be Permitted To Work In The USA
Today, there are thousands of illegal aliens from many parts of the world working in the USA. They do not have proper documentation to work in the states, but all they are doing is earning money to support their families. Should they be allowed to work without proper documentation?

Either they should be allowed to or outsourcing should be disallowed; at least with the illegal immigrants they are willing to come here and work rather than jobs being given to people who don't even live here illegally, let alone legally.

What in the world does allow have to do with it. May as well ask should we allow the sun to shine whenever it wants. We have neither the manpower nor the money, and even if we did I doubt it would be worth it. It's just a big political sounding point for both sides of the fence so they can avoid working on real problems.

The immigrants are here in search of a better life. Everyone deserves a better life. We can always send the criminals back to the mother country, but they aren't causing illogical problems. If we remove all illegal aliens from the US, they may be gone, but they leave US born children behind. The children are legal as they were born here, and do not have to leave. Therefore causing more debt, as the government would then have to pay to support these abandoned children. Now you may be thinking, "well why don't the aliens take their kids with them?" They leave their children behind, because the children are citizens, and can continue their life, better than their parents'. Why not let the parents stay? It would reduce our spending, and improve our economy (food pickers). So I say, "Let them stay AND work!"

Of course they should it's not like they are doing any jobs that Americans are fighting over. Honestly they are just doing the "scut" work that we don't want to do. What's so wrong with that.

As I'm British, my opinion may be kind of irrelevant. However, I believe immigrants should be allowed to work, even illegal ones. They produce the same benefits to the country as a born American. If they got the job before someone else, that's just life. The situation might be different in places with a high unemployment rate, but otherwise I strongly believe they should be allowed to work.

I really wish you people who make statement like that would get educated....In San Francisco, near where I live. the illegal aliens take low paying jobs like carpenters..$33 an hour, glaziers $34 hr...electricians $45...pipe fitters $40 hr....elevator workers @$60hr...which of these jobs or pay would you call low or unwanted and that's just a small list, there's alot more. Then they take the money and go back to Mexico or whereever and live rich, depleteing our economy.....please educate yourself.

In many U.S. States, especially in the West, economies would collapse without the contributions of illegal workers. They are here to stay, and will continue to work, like it or not.
Yes, illegals are technically “criminals,” but let’s face it, the problem is one of supply and demand.
How many picky, superior white boys are willing to swing a hammer for 10 hours in the hot sun for $10/hour or prissy white girls to stand up behind a McDonald’s counter all day for $8/hour?
These jobs exist and must be filled. I say, all power to immigrants who see these needs and fill them.
America was built on the labor of immigrants, many of them illegal. Mexicans are the modern equivalent of the early-20th century Irish, Italians, Jews, and Germans. Those nationals all became middle class and now running this country, and Hispanics are now making economic and social strides.

Well perhaps if they left those white boys would get off their little lazy behinds and work. The jobs were being done before we were swamped with immigrants and would be done now. When the Irish and the rest came the world was different they just got on a boat went through the paperwork and worked. LEGALLY, the hispanics are not doing that they are working for cheap wages so that the rest of us have to do the same. Its not about Mcdonalds or wages its about being legal and not ripping off the legal citizens in this country.

According to my point of view these illegal aliens should be encouraged to stay and work for U.S. Let me submit my view in a broader aspect. These aliens are working for U.S which means they are just giving the support to the economy of the country. Whether be it a manufacturing or service industry, they are giving their full effort. On the other hand they are just having their livelihood. This is a clear business and nothing else. U.S. Government is having the benefit as well with the increasing number of employees who came to the country only to purchase a better life on exchange of their sweat and exhaustion although they do not possess the proper documents needed to stay in U.S. It is not that much easy to get the immigration in a very well organized manner. It needs lots of paper works to be done.

They are SUPPORTING the economy by being part of the working force, in both the manufacturing AND service industries. They're not criminals...they're just trying to make a living in a country they only came to to seek a better life.

And believe me when I say it's not that easy to come into the country legally. I am an immigrant, and I understand the pains my parents went through to get us here...miles of paperwork and red-tape had to be cleared. For someone that's living in a situation that's potentially fatal to their family because the standard of living is so low and the job market is extremely difficult to get into, then it is RATIONAL for them to seek refuge in another country, albeit illegally, simply to save the lives of one's family.

Illegal aliens already in the US should be allowed to stay and take on work, but government authorities must eventually legalize their status. There are nearly 12 million illegal immigrants currently in the US and by taking on low paying jobs that otherwise would not be filled, they help fuel the American economy. Due to their large numbers, it is unrealistic (and entirely inhumane) to simply deport them.

Yet illegal aliens must eventually be registered and turned into landed immigrants, with the possibility of obtaining full citizenship. This is the only way to actually guarantee that these new arrivals end up paying US taxes and that they are given the same rights and obligations as all other citizens. Once this has been accomplished, the US should devise a way to more effectively patrol the Mexican border, in order to halt the arrival of future illegal aliens.

I think that illegal aliens should be permitted to work in the United States as long as they are not committing any crime. They are like every US citizen. They want to get up every day and go to work to support their families. They usually work the jobs that US citizens do not want. So, I think that they should be allowed to work like a normal person. Above all, the taxes they pay from their hard work goes to the US government to help fund the US citizens who are on welfare and don't want to work!

Ok, news flash people. There aren't enough jobs for CITIZENS here, so why should we give illegal immigrants the jobs that legal citizens and immigrants deserve. Why should we continue to help people who break the law when law abiding citizens can't find work? The legal citizens should come first. Once they have jobs, then the illegals can get whatever jobs are left over. That's completely fair!

Should be?! Did you say should be allowed to work in the states? NEWS FLASH THEY ARE AND HAVE BEEN....I agree the majority are trying to make a better living...but, so what. They are here illegally, they cause an economic drain, they contribute to lower scholastic scores, which makes the U.S. Less competitive in a global economy. Unlike past immigrants the current ones do not appear to want to assimilate into main stream American Culture...there are many nations represented by the immigrant issue...but, let me use Mexico as an example...if you get caught sneaking over Mexico's Southern Boarder your ass is in jail!...or, go to Mexico City and march through the streets with your countries flag on top of their flag and see what happens....

I don't think that illegal aliens should be allowed to work in the U.S. Look at the first word illegal that means by that they are in the country and are breaking the law and when they are deported we as tax payers have to pay for there trip back home. And then they come back and the process starts all over again. How much of our hard earned money goes to pay for there vacation trip into the U.S. And then the trip home.

 jj4freedom  17 Mar 2009 13:31

First of all, we (americans) don't pay for illegal's trip here. Second, we wouldn't have to pay for their trip home if we left them here. most immigrants are looking for a better life. Why can't we just leave them be? If trouble should arise, sent the guilty illegal immigrants back to their mother country. Then, instead of spending millions, if not billions, housing the immigrants as prisoners, we would merely be spending thousands, if that, in transportation (deportation) cutting our budget greatly.

Then the government should stop caring so much about mexican immigrants. No matter what, mexicans (and peoples of all other countries) will always find a way into our country. Many immigrants are looking for a better life, not only for them, but for their family too. Isn't that what this country is about? Freedom? A better life?

Immigration laws are in place to protect America from an onslaught of foreign entities coming to our country and draining our resources. If an immigrant wen through the legal and correct way to enter this country, I have no issues with them. Yet, if we continue to condone the activities of those individuals who choose to ignore the processes and ignore our laws the show a great disrespect to this nation and those who chose to come over the right way.
Every day I hear stories of illegal immigrants getting in car accidents and receiving no penalties because they are illegal. I've read about mothers and babies being run over while in a crosswalk by drunk illegal aliens and a witness had to chase him down and get his license plate number. I watch American children have to sit in overcrowded classrooms fighting to get an education while teachers struggle with having to teach mixed classes. I see Americans who cannot afford healthcare but because of the drain on the state and federal resources for medical care due to illegal immigrants are refused medical attention. What about Americans? What about our rights? What about the man who was just parked in a parking lot trying to do his job and his car is hit by a student illegal driving without a license? What happens to him when his job that barely makes ends meet now has to take money out his kids mouths to pay for an insurance deductible and now has to pay higher premiums when the immigrant only received a ticket for driving without a license? What about the mother and child in critical condition in a hospital? What about the kids in overcrowded schools?

People talk about how Americans won't do the jobs of laborers and that's just a complete misrepresentation. What happened was these jobs use to actually pay decent wages, then came along the illegals and they said "Hey, we'll do it for half that." Plus the business owner seldom has to claim them or pay the taxes or the insurance. These jobs use to be held by Americans but due to influx of illegals slashing the pay scale they have to try and find other employment because that rate of pay doesn't cover basic living expenses.
American needs to feed and care for its own children before giving away our resources to illegal immigrants. We are facing an era of low prosperity and we no longer have the surplus to afford illegal immigrants.

Those who follow the processes laid out in our immigration laws, worked hard to come to this country and try and make it here. They are the ones I want becoming citizens. I do not people who choose to ignore our laws to be giving carte blanche to our resources. What message does that send to the world. It says, come rape America, we won't do a thing about it.

Your eyes are not open to your own race's imperfections. It is not only illegal immigrants that are causing these problems, yet for a reason unknown to me, it is not the incidents involving citizens(Americans) that are remembered, as the ones involving immigrants. Also, many times i have read in newspapers of AMERICAN underage, non liscensed drivers causing sometimes fatal crashes.
And for the school affair, there are ESL and ELL classes. These remove students who cannot fluently speak, read, or write in english, from a regular school day, and take them into a room with only children who are not fluent in English. They then use simple, intermediate, and advanced level (depending on their fluency level) activities to teach these students the English language.
Also, keep in mind that the american government still takes taxes out of the immigrants' paychecks.

First and foremost, it is very difficult to obtain a green card. There is lots of paperwork to fill out, and a substantial amount of money due. Furthermore, the green cards only allow the immigrants to work here, not to live here. If they are caught living in America with only a green card, they may still be deported. Also, they are only taking the jobs that most americans refuse to accept.

Not all immigrants are lazy, look at the ones slaving away in the fields, picking the produce you eat, the pumpkins you carve, and the tobacco you smoke. Primarily, immigrants came over strictly to work, working till exhaustion to support themselves and their family. Twas the Americans that began to bring these immigrants to get hooked up on welfare and other social services, so since then, the immigrants have become accustomed to the benefits, to provide the necessary materials. Yes, they may have nice clothes, and a "beautiful" car, but they work exceptionally hard to earn these luxuries.

Yes! Jobs "real Americans" COULD have. If they were willing to spend their work day in a field instead of a cozy office. Most immigrants are working in the fields, as that is one of the few jobs in this country that speaking English isn't required for. Like my step-uncle's friend. He travels the United States to keep a job. He comes to Washington for winter to make wreaths, and in spring and summer, works at a local cannery. Then in fall, travels to Georgia to pick pumpkins. My step-uncle used to pick mushrooms in spring and summer in Oregon, than make wreaths in Fall and Winter.

They need to just not come here if they don't do it right. Most of them are good people but a lot of them are still running drugs or harming others here in many ways, our jobs, our lifestyle, housing, communities, our children. Not to mention the fact that slimeball employers hire them for cheap wages and allow citizens to go without. No they need to all leave which ever way we can get them out.

They suck tax dollars out of the government and the cut in line in front of the "LEGAL" immigrants that go through the proper channels to come here LEGALLY. The problem is with their country of origin so don't blame it on the US! Corrupt governments in Mexico and other nations are the real villains!

true that the corrupt governments in other nations are the real villans for not providing for their citizens the conditions for a healthy economy to develop.

BUT, but but but, the only reason why we have mexicans working in the fields here in america is because the government does not take any measures against the rich white farmer who hires them. Because the rich white guy gets richer by exploiting the poor brown people,

because slavery is no longer legal against the darker people, they found a lighter brown colored people to take advantage of.

that is the law of capitalism, to exploit the poor and uneducated . And these are the social dynamics of this issue.

If they want a job, a licence, a vote, or anything else, they need to recross the boarder in a LEGAL way and gain citizenship and THEN they can have those pretty things that make you money and power...

So, i guess, you would have given the exact same argument about slavery. huh:

something like this:

They aint citizens them nigger boys, they aint got no rights, they aint need no rights, other than the right to obey the mighty white masterl.

On a final note let me just tell you that there are a lot of illegal mexicans working in the U.S because the U.S government allows them to work. If we did not want to allow illegal immigrants to work, all we had to do is to put in prison the rich white people who hire the illegal immigrants.

But not this wont happen. we want the mexicans working hard so that the masters make a fortune out of them.

These people are in the process of committing a Felony. Why should we let wanted felons work out in the open? Further more, Americans WILL do those jobs, just not for that pay. We have to pay taxes, insurance and other stuff. Also, why do we need to have adults do it? What is wrong with hiring a couple of teenage boys to pick your fruit? Why do we need the cheaper labor. I blame growers and fast food industry for the obese teens because they hire illegals to jobs that teens could have, leaving the teens left with nothing else to do.

Immigrants have to pay taxes too. We don't need the cheaper labor, but some farmers and plantation owners and such want cheaper labor, because then they make a larger profit, as they don't have to pay a good wage to get someone to pick/harvest their crop.

How are obese teens due to the illegal immigrants working jobs in which they stand around, and are surrounded by deep-fried, greasy food. This would only contribute to the obesity of some immigrants. Which by the way, how do you know it is the illegal immigrants that are working at fast food restaurants. Who's to say they're not legal? Did you ask them for their papers? I think not.

They are quickly draining our economy.
"Based on Census Bureau data, this study finds that, when all taxes paid (direct and indirect) and all costs are considered, illegal households created a net fiscal deficit at the federal level of more than $10 billion in 2002. We also estimate that, if there was an amnesty for illegal aliens, the net fiscal deficit would grow to nearly $29 billion."

We are a country based upon law. We have the right to uphold those laws. Illegal immigration violates the law. It makes hispanic people in this country illegally a target for exploitation and lowers the wage base for American workers, places strain on the medical system, social security, jails, welfare system. Not to mention the slap in the face to all those who entered this country LEGALLY. Employers need to be held accountable for hiring illegal immigrants.

There are laws for a reason. Countries have the right to determine who they allow onto their land and just because you have people who are willing to ignore our most basic laws, they shouldn't be permitted to get away with it. Perhaps if these people stayed in their own country and fought for rights that we take for granted here, they wouldn't have to run across the border and violate American law.

Taking American jobs is a bad thing and if we give bosses a reason to keep them here taking tax money then we are all screwed.

I don't think that they should be permitted to work here illegally because for one thing they are taking those jobs away from American citizens who have to pay taxes. If they want to work in America then they should do it the right way and that is to go back to their countries and get in line to come to this country legally.

I can understand and agree what bulldog has said on the opposite side.

However, if we allow illegal Aliens work legally, it would encourage more people come to US through illegal way, which may result in huge amount of illegal aliens live in US. This will not only give big negative impacts on American society in terms of unemployment rates, education system and medical system, but also give Mafaya (who always tend to provide ways for illegal immigration) lots customers.
