Doctors Should Force-Feed Anorexics
Do you think that doctors should be able to force-feed anorexics via a naso-gastric (through the nose) tube as medical treatment?

I took a little time to mull this one over first, before replying here.

I believe in a person's right to chose for themselves.
Basic human rights as well as civil rights issue.

However, we are a bit remiss as human beings to allow a person to starve to death, aren't we?
I do not have technical training in what all anorexia is about, but, it would appear that this is what killed the lovely and very talented singer, Karen Carpenter.
Her death by self-starvation, was a TRAGEDY:-(......
Could have been.....Prevented. SHOULD HAVE BEEN, prevented.

Just think of all the songs we missed hearing her sing had she lived to leave us more of her lovely rare voice.....

Perhaps what we need to reply to this debate, is a medical doctor's educated input.....
Most of us do not have adequate training to make a good reply.

Well I think anorexia is classed as a mental illness and we have a duty to stop mentally ill people from killing themselves because we can be sure that they are not making rational decisions.

If they are about to die, yes they should have the authority to do that. But then again others might consider this a violation of personal rights. I don't

I strongly disagree. I am an anorexic and it is horrible. Trust me it would honestly lead me to commit suicide should i ever be force fed. Don't say anything on it till you experience how much it hurts to actually go through it. I used to share your view until a point in my life where i just got so depressed in my body that i became anorexic. I thought i was past the danger stage and it happened to me. If god forbid it ever happens to you then you will take back what you sed!

NO! I think that it is a total violation of Human rights! Only in near death situations should any thing like this be allowed to happen!
