Cities Should Have Topless Beaches
Topless sunbathing is popular in many countries such as Australia, France, and Germany. Should countries designate all beaches as top-optional, or should cities designate certain beaches or parts of beaches as top-optional, at least part of the time? Is this primarily a personal freedom vs. Society standards issue, an economic issue for tourism dependent cities, or other?

Heh, why not? At least have certain sections for it...

I mean, I don't really care 'cause the last few times I went to a beach I almost drowned so now I'm avoiding them at all costs (granted twice it was at a fake beach, but it was still creepy enough).

Topless beaches aren't just in Europe or Australia; some public swimming pools in Canada allow it.

It's an issue of Americans being uptight about their own bodies, of sexual puritanism. Watching people be killed on TV by the dozen is okay, but a single bare butt on NYPD at 10:00PM sends the entire country into a tizzy? Talk about screwed up. People who are mentally healthy wouldn't get turned on or offended by the sight of a topless woman on a beach. (Go to Korea sometime - men don't go outside without a shirt on. Now that's uptight.)

The same thing goes on with swimsuits on men - some men get called "fag" for wearing a speedo or jammer? No - a person who would call someone "fag" for a swimsuit is probably a closet queen himself. Small wonder surf shorts are called the male burqa.

I'm not a prude and I'm completely fine that there are nude beaches in some places. There are many cities, however, where there simply isn't an area sheltered enough to allow a nude beach without people who don't want to be exposed to it having no choice but to see it. And also in some colder climate cities it probably wouldn't make much sense.

But if they can find a way to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone, including those who don't want to look at it, then certainly go ahead.
