Children (10+ Years Old)Should Be Allowed To Have Computers And Television Sets In Their Bedrooms.
Allowing a child to have a computer and television set in their bedroom encourages independence. With the proper parental controls in place i.e. Webnanny and the v-chip, children can have access to a global community as well as the ability to view the subjects that truly interest them.

Children should be allowed computer usage at this age and sites that are too mature for them to visit can be blocked and restricted using parental settings. At the end of the day a responsible guardian would impose rules for the child to follow regarding the TV and computer

I believe that children have the right to choose whether or not they wish to have a TV and a Computer in their room, as this would be the perfect opportunity to give the child some independence in their thinking as to whether or not it is a good idea for them growing up into a technologically advancing world without the technology. I myself am 15 and have both in my Room and it was entirely my chose as i can work and rest in the same room undisturbed!

 Why do you think children have a right to make that choice? The parents paid for the room, the house, the electricity... does this not make it their choice? The part of the human brain which regulates risk/reward behaviour does not finish developing in the male until age 16 or 17; would it not be irresponsible for the parents to transfer the right of choice to this as-yet undeveloped brain? Especially when we are talking about a computer which could potentially connect you to any criminal in the world? To allow a child to make these types of choices is an abrogation of parental responsibility. I'm hoping I get a computer in my room next year, when I'm 4.

I think it is good because then we can do our homework in our rooms instead of in another place, which would be bad for other people because we might be up all night and keep them up doing our homework, or they might need the computer but we still need it.

I agree. Children need to have their own place to go to have some down time away from others. Having a TV or computer in their room gives them that space. It also comes in handy for when they have reports to do or want to watch something else than the rest of the family.

Nowadays where the world is going so fast, children are also becoming advanced in their activities. They learn things much earlier than what their previous generation used to. Thus knowing the computers or watching the television according to their wishes is not an uncommon thing for them. They learn computer in schools from a very early age. So if they are allowed to have computers or televisions sets in their bedrooms then this will surely help them. They can have an access to the internet and can search or look out for information from there. On the other hand with the help of television they can come to know about the rest of the world and can understand what is right and what is wrong. They can make a decision as to what should be good for them in future and what should harm them in future.

Absolutely, it's very healthy for kids to have supervised access to the Internet,In fact it's essential in the modern age that kids be able to access the information for school and personal interest. The same goes for TV. Certainly parents need to be control of their kids activities, but to deny them something like this is foolish.

16+, then it is less likely that they will post info that will get them in trouble. But it is really up to the guardian of the child in question.

Computer time should be restricted not because the Internet is dangerous, but because it is addictive. I happen to believe that no drug should be regulated, but I make an exception for kids - i.e., kids should not have bedroom access to the Internet, just like they should not have access to crack cocaine.

Yea 10 is a pretty early age to discover the possibilities and paths of inaction. Don't limit your kid to that lifestyle just cue.It's supposed to be cool.

No. Computer time should be supervised, at least if it involves the internet. TV's and computer's in a child's room encourage isolation.
