Only ones they tend to keep as pets or domesticated. Then that's OK since I have pets. |

I only say yes because a) people are animals too, and b) horses, dogs, or any long-time domesticated
animal should be fine provided they are not abused in the process.
HOWEVER, I agree with the other column that cruelty to animals and/or enslaving wild or exotic
animals for the sake of the circuses should be stopped. |

I don’t intrinsically have a problem with the idea of circus animals. But the truth his most
circuses simply do not have the facilities to transport and care for large wild animals in the way
they need to be cared for to maintain health. |

I have not gone to a circus and do not allow my children to go to the circus due to the mistreatment
of the animal performers. When something goes wrong and an animal harms one of the handlers or gets
loose and harms others, the animal is destroyed. This is unfair considering that the animal has
been mistreated, abused and forced to behave in a manner that is not consistant with the way they
behave in the wild. Grenache made a point about domesticated animals, but I believe that most
circuses treat animals in a cruel manner and would not hesitate to neglect or abuse a dog or cat in
the same way that they abuse the more exotic animals. I do not see the fun in watching elephants do
tricks that are both unnatural and a disgrace to an animal that is intelligent and capable of more
emotion than some. These animals mourn the loss of those in their herd. They are not small (there
is an understatement). If something goes wrong, innocent people who do not realize that there is
any danger involved with these animals, can be hurt or killed. It is likely very little consolation
to their families that the offending animal is then put down. |

Here in the UK, we are not particularly tolerant of wild animals in circuses and I think we are
right to be so. According to the RSPCA, there are only 38 wild animals left in circuses. These are
four elephants, five zebras, five lions, six snakes, seven tigers, eight camels, one kangaroo and
two crocodiles. The government in England has committed to introduce a ban on the use of certain
non-domesticated or wild species in travelling circuses, which I would say is a very good thing as
it is inhumane and therefore totally unnecessary. |

Animals should never be taken from their habitats and be selfishly forced to be entertainment. For
us. Its morally wrong. |

They usually live in horrible conditions, it is a bad enough life for the people who choose it. |

Nope. Its cruel to force them to do tricks |
