All High School Students Should Be Required To Take A Political Literacy Class.
What's your thought?

I think this is a great idea. I do something called enrichment studies and my teacher goes on about how people aren't voting because they are ignorant as to which to vote for. If you don't know someones policies then you should find out and think for yourself, not become a sheep, follow the flock and do nothing.

I think that political literacy classes could be a great idea, but teachers and schools would have to be very careful not to turn these into overtly partisan events. There would have to be very specific guidelines in place to ensure that the course material is as balanced as possible and that it teaches students the basics of the American political system, the importance of voting as a civic duty and gives them a broad idea of where different parties and ideologies stand on the political spectrum.

Many high school students are not clear on what primaries are, how presidents are actually elected and the role of the House of Representatives and the Senate, while kids in British-style parliamentary democracies are often equally confused about first-past-the-post voting, or proportional representation. As such, a political literacy course would be very much needed, especially as students approach voting age.

Politics is a very important issue. Though we learn politics from our school but normally not everybody keeps too much interest in this matter. It is a very crucial subject which helps the students to know about the political structure of a country. But students have their own choice and preferences. They may not like the political literacy class as they may be more interested in subjects like physics, chemistry, mathematics or even something else. Though political literacy is required but again forcefully it is not possible to impart any knowledge to anyone. It is not hard and fast that everybody will keep interest in politics. Disagreeing to someone’s choice will not have any such good or positive effect on the student. Thus we can surely say that though political literacy is required mainly for high school students but it should not be kept as a compulsion.
