If you are a guy buying a dress online is way better for you can't see if you are being judged. |

I agree! Comfort of your own home, easy to compare prices etc. Down side is you have to wait for
your deliveries, were if u go shopping you just buy it and walk away! |

Shopping online is way better. For one thing, just compare the prices. You'll see that the stories
of "rip-off Britain" still have a lot of validity. Online shops are, in general, far more
competitive.
You can also do price comparisons via sites like www.kelkoo.co.uk, which automatically scan multiple
suppliers for you and tell you which is the cheapest. To get the same result in the real world,
you'd have to trudge round loads of shops.
The other information resources available online also help you make a decision when you're thinking
about purchasing something. You can read reviews from other people who have bought it. If it's a
DVD, for example, you can visit IMDB.com to learn more about the cast and the director. After you've
grown used to this, buying things in the real world is like buying half-blind.
In the age of global warming, we should also all be thinking about our impact on the environment. By
taking a car or public transport to the shops, you're just putting more pollution into the
atmosphere needlessly. |

I think online shopping is much better than having to go to busy, crowded shops.
Online shopping means being able to order everything without foot -slogging and rushing about.
It can mean that you don't meet the seller face to face but you can talk to them over the
Internet.
There are some great sites like eBay and iOffer where you can get real bargains online although you
have to take care that what you buy is genuine.
I think that online shopping is good for people who have mobility problems or who live in isolated
areas. It means that they can have access to goods and services that would be denied them
otherwise.
Opening a Paypal account can put some people off shopping on some sites but it's easy to use once
everything is set up.
On downside is that online shopping can be socially isolating - you can go for a coffee with your
friends online, generally though it's a good idea. |

I definitely agree with this! Shopping online saves so much hassle! It cuts down on the cost of
having to travel to the shops (which is useful if your nearest shopping centre is far away) and you
can spend as much time shopping for items as you like because there is no closing time!
When it comes to Christmas shopping, I usually go to a shopping centre and shop online as well. I
usually go to the shopping centre first to get in the Christmas spirit, and then I can shop online
for any items I've forgotten or for other gifts that I need. I actually find it quite enjoyable
browsing Amazon for gifts at Christmas.
Some shops also make their products cheaper online. You do have the option of leaving delivery
instructions as well, which means that you don't have to stay at home all day. As long as you have a
secure place where the item can be stored whilst you're not at home, then everything should be ok.
Online stores may also have products that aren't available at the actual store. As for purchasing
clothes online, I think Spartan76 has a point in that it can be difficult to get clothes that are
the right size. Though having said that, I've purchased quite few items of clothing online and only
ever had to return one, so I think as long as you know your exact size, you shouldn't have any
problems.
Shopping online is also ideal for people who may not be able to leave the house due to difficulties
or people who are too busy to do a weekly shop. Supermarkets such as Asda and Tesco deliver right to
your door, which saves you the hassle of spending ages in the supermarket when you don't have the
time. |

Yeah, I think we saved time and money shopping online.
Shipping is usually fast and reasonable if not already baked into the price with sites like Amazon. |

With it being Christmas Eve, I am SO glad the Christmas shopping nightmare is now over. How I
managed to survive it, I will never know, but never the less I will count myself lucky to still be
alive.
The shopping malls at Christmas time (and sometimes even just at random times throughout the year)
are a nightmare. They are just jam packed with millions of people all wanting to buy the same thing.
Talk about something single handedly driving you insane. It's a certified craziness contributor in
my book.
I have however, had the good fortune of being able to buy things online for myself during the year.
Now, of course I would do this for Christmas but my partner is old school, and still believes
walking around what seems to be endless shops filled with minimal merchandise and maximum people, is
the best way of shopping and "finding ideas" of what to buy for people. My partner doesn't realise
that you can actually find the exact same things online without having to "stress out" about it,
(even though I have mentioned it thousands of times!)
Shopping online is so easy. You just find what you want (by browsing around), add it to your virtual
cart (not the one that you have to carry and weighs half a tonne because all the trolleys have been
taken already!) and have it delivered to your door step within a reasonable time frame (again,
without having to carry it all back to your car and then requiring reconstructive surgery on your
shoulder).
It's definitely the way of the future and something I will almost certainly be doing this time next
year, with or without the approval of my partner! |

It might be easier, but when you go to the store you see what the item looks like and what size fits
you |

Shopping online takes away the fun of going out with your friends and having a good time and finding
bargains. Also many sales can only be found in real life shops and delivery is often extremely slow
especially on specialist specific or inexpensive. The p&p often also makes it more expensive to
buy. |

I'm a little on the fence about this one. What made me choose shopping in person is the fact that
you get your purchases immediately and you can see them in person to size. |

Nowadays everyone knows about shopping online. It’s very popular new type of E-Commerce. However,
I think shopping has more disadvantages than advantages. For example, it’s a way to get into debt,
there many problems with shopping online and it takes away from social interaction.
Although it’s easy to go shopping online, I think a way to get into debt because
customers can pay by credit card. They don’t worry about the expense. Customers can pay by
installments so they may forget the price. I think don’t like paying by cash because it’s high
risk for them.
In actual fact, there are many problems from shopping online. For example, you can’t see
and try products before you buy them. Then, when you receive an order if the delivered to you is the
wrong size or wrong color, you probably can’t return it. Sometimes if you would like return
products, you must be responsible for the delivery charge.
Furthermore, shopping online takes away from social interaction. If you go shopping with
your family, friends or your coworkers, you have interaction together, but you can’t do this with
shopping online. Also, you can get real information from customer service assistants which helps you
decide what to buy. This is better than information you get from resources online.
In conclusion, I think shopping online leads to many problems. Customers should go to
real shops instead. |

No.
People get lazier. I mean, more technology seems to be unhealthy due to the fact that there are a
lot of couch potatoes (I can be one sometimes) and people that sit in front of the computer all day.
Also, it helps people interact with others more often.
On the other hand, it could save on gas, and for some places, save money for the actual products
that they are buying. |

No...because you actually don't get to try on the item to make sure you like it, and what if they
send you the wrong shirt, or it looked a certain way in the picture and when you get it it's
different. It just causes to many problems |

It takes away from social interaction.
It is social interaction because you are at least out with other people instead of being cooped up
at home in front of your computer. You interact with the clerks, other customers, and anyone you
might go shopping with (generally people shop with others, like friends) |

I think that staying in and doing all your shopping over the Internet is lazy, plus you have to pay
for delivery charges also, which would probably be more than if you went to the shops yourselves a
lot of the time. Also, shopping is exercise and fresh air which is good for us. Personally, I think
that our society is just becoming more and more lazy, and if something isn't done about that, then
we are all just going to become an obese society one day and there would be an increase in health
problems etc. It's ok to shop online sometimes, especially when you can't buy something in a shop
that you do see online or if an online product is cheaper than in shops, but doing ALL your shopping
on the Internet is lazy, personally. Also, if you buy something online and it is faulty, not
suitable for your needs etc, then you probably can't return it. |

Online shopping can't be a substitute for the real thing.
It's much more sociable and exciting to go to the real shops.
It's much better to try and clothes and shoes and to see and feel materials, sit on sofas and pick a
book up than glazing at an often misleading photo or description online.
It's not always safe to shop online as fraud is rife over the Internet and you can't pay by cash
online.
It might be better for parents with young children to shop online and this would stop the shops
being crowed with noisy, bored children, also, people with mobility problems might be better
shopping online. Having said that the latter probably benefit from getting out to shops as they meet
other people and get away from home.
Overall I think it's far better o go out to shop , meet friends, have lunchenjoy the whole
experience. Online shopping can't give you that. Returning goods to shops is often easier to and you
can talk to shop assistants. |

Shopping online has some advantages and so many bargains can be had online.
However there's nothing can compare with seeing goods , being able to hold them, judge the quality
and colour, fit and trying things on.
At least personal shopping can let you have the freedom to choose whilst being there in person.
Not all online sellers can be trusted and returning goods can be time consuming and costly.
Many items are misrepresented online and disappointing when they arrive. Then you may have to pay
for returns yourself.
Agreed, that books, Dvds are easily ordered online but for items such as furniture how can you know
if a chair is comfortable and right for you if you haven't tried it before you buy it?Returning
large items can be a nightmare.
Overall I'd say I' m against it except in certain circumstances. |

One of the main problems of shopping online is needing to be in when they deliver. That might not
be a problem if you get to sit at home all day. However, if you're out at work and you're not in
all day, then the parcel or letter will be delivered to a sorting office or post office. This means
traipsing off at some time when they are open to get them. This is not likely to be during working
hours, so it means cutting into your Saturday.
The other thing is, you can't check the item for yourself. You don't get actual physical contact
with the item, which means that you lose some aspect of the joy of shopping for a gift for a loved
one.
Another problem is that you can't shop for clothes online, it's just not a great idea to buy
something to size online, because it might not fit, but I think it's essential that you don't buy
clothes for anyone anyway unless you have a good eye for fashion and know their body shape well, I
think there's nothing worse than getting something that doesn't fit on Christmas day, it makes you
feel short, tall, too skinny or too fat.
There is something joyful about joining other people on their quest to buy things in shops, trying
to be inventive, seeing just the right thing. This is one of the problems of buying online, it's
more premeditated, you need to know what you're looking for. There's no chance of that special
little thing popping into vision and a Eureka moment occurring!
I do agree that for premeditated purchases of simply things like CDs and DVDs, nothing beats the
Internet, but anything a bit more personal, needs the human touch. |
