Service In Vietnam Is Nothing To Be Proud Of
McShame boasts about his service in Vietnam, as did Kerry before him. Historians agree that between 3 and 4 million people died in the Vietnam war. This is mass murder on an almost Hitlerian scale. Those people were killed just because they didn't want foreigners ruling their country. It is time Americans stopped boasting about the Vietnam war, and started showing penitence for it. It was a crime against humanity comparable with Hitler's holocaust.

Yeah I've always pondered this. Why would you boast about participating in the mindless bloodbath that was 'Nam? I guess he uses it to show he's dedicated to America and served in a war; and to be fair, he was held as a prisoner of war by the Vietnamese for a long time. But still, 'Nam was a crime against humanity like you said.

Remember the us not only bombed Nam but Cambodia and Laos, using napalm on peasant villages, which is hardly an honourable thing to do. Probably not on a par with the holocaust, but certainly one of the worst since. John McCain doesn't seem to have learnt the lesson from Vietnam that the USA cant and shouldn't subdue a people and impose their doctrine, truly an imperialist war.

Yes, war is horrible, but we haven't come up with something better to replace it. Many men and some women have given up their life for our country, and other people to protect them from different things. They've stood in the face of death and accepted what happened to them.So be proud of those who have sacrificed their life to make yours better, it's the least you can do.

Heck Hidell, I figured that the Vietnam war would be a war that you would love seeing to the fact that American involvement was started and mostly ran by Democrat administrations.

I love it when all the Dem's say Iraq is 'another Vietnam'. They should know....

P.S. By the way- Have you ever done a political debate in which more people agreed with you than not? Even one?

What your statement says, SERVICE in VTNM was wrong. I disagree, service by young men & women is never wrong. The decisions made by the governed officials, may be in question regarding sanity, but SERVING, no never wrong.

Carolsue- Don't let Hidell get to you. This debate of his is par for the course. There is nothing about this country that he is not proud to hate.

Lol...

Nice comparison. Anyway, I kinda wish the French wouldn't have been over there. But that's just me.

By the way, for us over here in America...McCain has always been reluctant to bring up his Nam experience. He's been in politics for a long time...he's pretty much kept it out of it. In fact, even his political enemies have wondered out loud why he hasn't used it more.

And by the way ya retard, maybe the US should've smashed North Korea and taken it over. The world may have been better off. It's debatable.

The Vietnam War wasn't the "best" war in history, however we shouldn't criticize the members of the US Army for their duty to their country. They were not mass murderers and were simply following their duty laid out by those higher in office. Plus the conscription of troops (the draft) was still around back in the 60's and early 70's and many people didn't have the choice to serve. Wars are a sad truth in this world and are always in some ways "unjust", however there should be some pride in serving your country, unless there truly is something in a soldier's career to be remorseful for.

Pride in urself in my opinion that you can say i survived something which many people did not and i did it for you (the people at home)... often submission to the hierachy can lead to dangerous consequences, "gloire" for King and Country
is something which has rightfully -in my opinion- declined, because if a soldier went into battle fighting for his family likelyhood is they will not perform acts which are ammoral... but that isnt categorical...

Lol i like the new word which has come about "Hitlerian"
But unfortunately there are many things which can be learnt from war, It is a fact of life just as going to University is, read many wartime novels and you will see that many people conscripted into the army learnt more from war than any other thing they had partaken in.... But it is only permissible in so far as they may have learnt from their lessons.
