Separation Of Church And State
To be a healthy proactive and competitive nation we need this to ensure all citizens are being represented equally and justly.

"no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion"

I think it is absolutely absurd that churches are tax exempt

It's imperative to a free society, the founding fathers were very wise when they repeatedly rejected the idea of permitting religious entanglement with the government.

As the Treaty of Tripoli says, "The United States is in no way founded upon the Christian religion" and it needs to stay that way, permanently.

The Treaty of Tripoli? come on? That was signed so early on by the US infant congress out of desperation to find amicable countries, even among Muslim states. It is no more valid than the Aliens and Seditions Act signed by the same president. It does give a nice historic window into the times it was written.

It was also composed by a diplomat, not a founding father.

I don’t really know what else to say, other than “I agree”.

I believe we have taken this issue of separation too far. When a candidate like Mike Huckabee is told by the left that he should not be allowed to hold office because of his religious views we are violating the constitution's "no religious test" clause. He has the right to his religion just like everyone else.

I think that the separation of church and state has been hugely misunderstood. There is no such verbiage in our constitution. There is the establishment clause which states "Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of a religion". That's it. No separation of church and state, but no establishment of a state sponsored religion. This was to promote greater freedom in the practice of religion. Our founders were very devout.

We have become a world obsessed with the rights of minorities, to the point where we are suffering from the "tyrrany of the minority". We are bullied by political correctness to the point where we have censorship and don't even recognize it as such. We are giving away more and more freedoms to protect the feelings of a few people.

You’re absolutely correct. The phrase “separation of church and state” is not contained in the text of the United States Constitution. Yet, the phrase “separation of powers” is also not found in the text of the Constitution, but who in their right mind could competently argue that the separation of powers is not a constitutional doctrine? Not anyone I know of. As for the religious members who reject church-state separation, the word “trinity” is not found anywhere within the text of the Bible. So, using the same logic represented in Innomen’s post, do Christians, therefore, deny that trinitarianism is a biblical doctrine? No, they do not. The real issue is not whether the actual words “Separation of church and state” are found in the text of the Constitution, but whether the principles of church-state separation is a constitutional assumption and value, and what church-state separation actually means and entails.
