I agree. It allows us to live with luxuries which we now regard as necessities. All impossible
without science. Getting to work would be a chore, if there even was work. |

I assume by science you mean our attempts to understand the natural world. I agree that the average
human existence is better now because of our increased understanding of the rules that govern the
physical world. However one cannot assume that this will always be the case. There are many
historical and current situations where greater scientific understanding has lead to a greater
ability to cause damage. As our capabilities grow our ability to responsibly use those capabilities
has to grow faster. I suspect that any world where a technology based culture evolves finds itself
eventually in a race between what they can do and what they should do. I also suspect that many such
cultures lose that race. |

Anyone who disagrees with this is living in the wrong century. It can provide answers that religion
can only dream to answer. |

Well, I'm a big believer in the good that science does on a regular basis, but science is a long way
off explaining anywhere near almost everything. Theories are great, and the logic of most is
undeniable, but theories they are, so while they make sense, it is still a matter of opinion.
However, the things it has proven are priceless, and without such explanations, we'd still be living
in the dark ages. |

I love science but it's mainly a guessing
and labelling game, you name things or make it up, wow that really betters evolution and humans
present condition. Thanks to science we also have found faster ways to wipe ourselves out. |

Unusual as it is, I’ll have to agree with Innomen on this matter. My disagreement on this topic is
mainly due to the fact that the phrase “almost anything” has been left undefined. Science is
meant to explain materialistic objects, events, and occurrences. It is not concerned with the
supernatural. |

Science is real good at some things. It is good at measuring and formulating. It can provide
feasible theories which is within its realm.
However it is (for us) limited to what we are able to comprehend. It would be amazingly arrogant
for us to assume our brains are able to comprehend all that exists in concept and in reality. As a
dog is unable to comprehend algebra, so too do we have limitations, but because we cannot know what
we cannot comprehend we are unable to truly appreciate where we are incomplete.
Science is good at the hows but not so good at the whys. It can explain how music works, but it
cannot explain why it is beautiful. It simply is not geared for that sort of thing. It might be
able to explain our existence, but not why we exist, for it has no ability in this sort of
quantifying. The problem is, because it cannot answer the whys, and it is bereft of tools to answer
the whys, it then assumes and concludes there are no whys. |

No way science can't explain everything. |
