Schools Should Allow More Input From The Students
Kids dread school, but why? Simple. They are forced to go & they don't have any say in anything about the school whatsoever. Uniforms are up to the county, food is up to the county, the students are basically being mandated by the county's school board! Why not stray from tradition and allow schools to involve students rather than making them wake up early only to be ordered around all day? Even a simple 'Suggestions Box' (Moderated for threats, profanity, etc) would help.

I completely agree with this statement. In my first year of high school, everyone in my grade was notified by text message that we would be split up into single gender classes the following year. (We are a mixed gender school.)

It was incredibly unfair because the teachers said absolutely nothing about this idea, not even to our parents, until the day we got the text message. And notifying people of such a dramatic change via text message is unprofessional on a new level. Also, we were the only grade to be treated this way. If there was any student input, that would not have happened, but because the teachers did not think to include student/parent input until after the final decision was made, we pretty much hated the governing body after that.

Asking students for their opinions and involving them shows that the school trusts them to make mature decisions so that they can receive the best education they can get. If the school doesn't have enough sense to even ask the parents' opinions then that really changes the students' and the parents' view of the school.

Depends on the age. You obviously wouldn't want too much input from little kids.

I agree, students aren't given much of a say in their own educational experience (in high school anyway). Even if something is causing issues for many students, teachers and staff usually don't listen or try to change anything, and the school board is nowhere to be seen,

Even at the classroom level, teachers usually don't let students really think freely. Generally, even answers for opinionated questions have to match up with the teacher's interpretation or it's wrong.
