We are having tests at the moment and all our teachers are pressuring us to get good grades and
revise. I know revision is good but the way they go on about it its as if they expect us to spend
all our free time doing it.
When i go to school i leave and 8.15 and after 1st lesson (9.45) i have a headache and after that
i can't concentrate properly in my other studies and i end up so stressed out that i have skipped
weeks at a time off. This is affecting my tests, people would say its my own dam fault, but, how can
i help being so stressed i cant thing straight? |

I think 12years + preschool+kindergarten is way to long. We are wasting away our lives sitting in a
classroom....bored as. Most people don't even study they just cram the night before something
important so don't even really understand/remember it anyway!
Think when your 30 as if you will remember derivatives etc. Especially now calculators do it for
you! |

School can be very overwhelming. With all the stress teachers put on students to get good grades and
pass these state achievement tests, it is too much for students. I think the achievement tests
should be done. Homework is getting more and more burdening also. Teachers don't realize how bogged
down schedules are getting. Kids that participate in sports are even further behind as sports demand
more practice time. |

If you can not handle school, how in the world will you manage real life, independent of parental
guidance and financial help??? |

If you mean North American schools, they are nothing compared to what I have seen.
I teach English in Asia and work with kids. In the morning, from 8:30 to 1:30, they go to school.
Then they go to private English academies, usually from 2:00-5:00, and sometimes a second academy
for music, other activities, martial arts, or more English. Then they go home and do homework for
about 4-5 hours.
Oh, did I mention that most go to school on Saturdays as well? And many go to academies on Sundays?
And they usually only get four weeks off from school annually - two at Chinese New Year, and two in
August?
The only point in my life I spent as much time in school and studying were my four years in college,
about 100 hours per week.
And, for the record, the Asian schools have the same social problems as western countries (bullying,
ostracism) plus corporal punishment (a/k/a spanking) event though it's illegal in all these
countries. Suicide is not a rarity.
So the next time you're feeling sorry for yourself, remember what I said and be glad you are where
you are.
Edit:
1. You didn't say that.
2. Don't get your panties in a bunch. |
