| School Doesn't Give You Enough Hands-on Experience. |
| I think that sitting in a classroom and learning isn't as useful as hands-on experience would be. |

We should make more room for it by teaching less math. |

Not only hands on but one-on -one. I go to a school that encourages hands on learning and have
teachers that like us to get out and learn. They only give us "lectures" if we want them. I am
learning now ten times more than usual mostly because it is on my own time and thing thing is..I
want to do it and be more responsible. This school is for High school kids, who dropped out for
jobs, got into trouble, or just wanted to graduate early. But if every school was like this we would
all be learning more and actually having fun doing it. Here is a little info from the website.
Here it is
ACE began its first classes for challenged youth September 16, 1991. Using a non-traditional
approach to education, ACE is the collaborative result of a design team composed of educators and
community representatives.
The design team envisioned a campus where challenged youth ages 16-21 would have a totally different
environment in which to learn and where the instructors would use innovative teaching models and
teaching strategies. This creative approach would improve student achievement by changing the ways
in which students were taught. |

About half of the teachers have relaized this and changed their curriculum. The other half need to
get with it and do the same. Alot of teachers believe lecturing is how students learn. But, what
students tend to do is hear the first couple minutes of the lecture and then tune them out. There
needs to be excitement in learning otherwise it is a waste of everyone's time and money. |

These days, schools are all lectures and boring essays. If teachers are so concerned about us
paying attention, do something fun for goodness sake. Tell a joke, get everyone up and moving; you
can't expect kids to just sit down and listen to you for an hour, that's not what childhood is
about. |

Other than science i would have to agree |

In my school we have to dissect eyeballs and that's about it. Personally, as a vegetarian and an
animal lover, I HATE IT but I would like a different kind of hands on experience. |

I agree. I know the problem in my area is liability. The school administrators worry over
children being injured.
I would imagine that money is one of the issues in most schools. |

I agree to a certain point, but u still need school smarts to survive and make money so i have to
disagree. |
