Ugly motives about money is a root of evil, is what the bible was saying. You will always get the
wrong sow by the ear and mis-read the text if you do not grasp the concept of analogy or just a
colourful turn of expression, etc etc.....
Most things are meant to tell a story paint a picture for you to better understand a spiritual
concept.
It was not literal. Obviously. Do not take it that way, and you might understand the bible better:
The way it was meant to be. |

Money is not what causes evil. People can do great and selfless things with money. As someone else
said, money is a fairly modern concept. If not money, other forms of trade would be in place and
good/evil would still be present in the world. I believe that evil is inherent in some individuals.
Others, the majority, have selfish motives some of the time, but are able to put things into
perspective and do the right thing when it comes down to it. Yet others, are on the opposite side
of being inherently evil. Some people are guided by the Spirit and seem to intuitively know what
is and isn't right and do the selfless thing with little thought. There are extremes in everything.
Money is no exception. Again, as with most things I have commented on here on this site, people
have to look in the mirror, look inside themselves and realize that we as human beings are
responsible for the outcomes of most situations that arise in the world. We can spend time blaming
just about anything for things that are wrong or unjust in the world, or we can stop casting blame
and step up to the plate and try to make real change. It takes courage, but it is possible. It may
be one small change at a time, but every good thing we accomplish in life gets us all closer to the
goal most of us desire. Lets all find a way to stop blaming outside factors and realize that we,
even those of us that are kind and do what we can to help those in need, can do more. A smile at a
stranger on a day that you don't feel like smiling is sometimes as big of an accomplishment as
possible that day, but keep moving forward and stop the back steps looking for blame where there
isn't any. |

Greed for money is the root of all evil, not money. |

I think love of money is the root of many kinds of evil things, but all evil? |

Money is a fairly recent concept, even on a human scale. While I don't really believe in "good" and
"evil" I think humans have classically been selfishly motivated and exhibit characteristics that
many would consider evil - way before money existed. |

Not exactly, the root is greed. Ever hear of the current situation of the rich get richer and the
poor get poorer? Or the increasing separation of rich and poor? Basically all of the world money is
in the hands of a few people, and they still try and squeeze what is left out of the regular guys
just trying to get by. |
