Rolling Stone's Top 100 Guitar Players Was The Biggest Joke
Rolling Stone Magazine is biggest rag ever published. I use it to clean my bathroom. Their top 100 Guitar Players was the biggest joke. They should have just put popularity contest right on it. Although they got some of them right, they completely forgot Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Eric Johnson! And what is with Kurt Cobain making number 12?!?!?!?!? He has got to be the least talented on that list! A lot of the guitarists on there got there because the no-nothing editors of that toilet rag don't know real talent!

I have to agree. I personally love Kurt Cobain, but even by his own admission, he wasn't a great guitarist! Eric Clapton making the top five is a joke and Slash not making the list is a travesty.

 Clapton in the top 5 is not a joke. He has an impressive resume. I might not put him in the top 5 but it's nothing compared to alot of the list. Slash might should crack the top 100.

That is the trouble with these surveys. No-one seams to ask anyone who might have an unbiased opinion.
Eric Clapton has been put forward in past surveys but you wouldn't expect him to dispute the legendary John Williams is better at playing the guitar.

He may also bow to the superiority of Hendrix.

Ya for the 100 greatest songs Like a rolling stone by Bob Dylan was number 1. Not the Beatles or Led Zeppelin or Eric Clapton. Also Kurt Cobain is not like the others this does not mean he is not talented. He was a lyrical genius and had a distinct voice. He combined these with exceptional riffs and playing that came from the heart. Sure # 12 may not have been the correct spot but to exile him off the list and to call him talentless shows that you no nothing about music

Rolling Stone is a joke, period. That "magazine" is the ambulance-chaser of the music industry: They write about trends four months after they happen when they're already over. Every "hot" group gets called "the saviour of Rock and roll" and then ignores the same group six months later and calls them a joke.

Jann Wenner is a coked up moron who takes payola payments. He couldn't tell "Rock and roll" from Polka.

Rolling Stone has gotten too big for its breeches and, yes, I completely agree that it's only a popularity contest.
Who ever is the most famous just HAS to be the best. Right? Ha-ha.

Rolling Stone is a piece of cr@p. They put David Gilmour in the 70'S! And how could they have a great guitar list without Satriani!? I don't remember seeing John Petrucci on that list.
