Rock and Roll will never die! Rock and Roll is such a broad term and it's hard to define it. Groups
from Weezer to Pet Shop Boys to The Dan Steely Band to System of a Down all fall under the broad
category of Rock. Such a diverse group of different styles falling under one umbrella called Rock
ensures it will never die. Sure, the sound of Rock has changed over the years but it continues to
live |

Rock in Roll...is rock in roll. IT will never die out, even if one person in the world listens to
it. There's still that one person "keeping it alive". |

Rock and roll will live on forever! |

Rock and Roll will always live on in the hearts of it's fans. Music will always survive as long as
someone is passionate about it.
Rock and Roll rocks! See what I did there... |

Even though we might not have grown up with the music, many, many teens right now (including myself)
are embracing rock music from the 60's, 70's and 80's. This, as I see it, was the age of true
musicians, unlike today where many popular "singers" know nothing about music. Many of the bands I
listen to are still touring, and I go to rock n' roll concerts quite frequently. So, this Genre of
music is not dead, but is still listened to and appreciated worldwide. |

Rock has had a longer lifespan than it deserves. Very little of it nowadays is worth listening
to.
Good music is, to quote from the film "Good Will Hunting", whatever blows your hair back. There is
no "one good style"; anyone who doesn't listen to a variety of things doesn't truly appreciate music
and probably doesn't play, either.
Listen to everything before you form an opinion: Baroque, canonical, classical, jazz, swing, dixie,
bebop, country, folk, bluegrass, rock and whatever else precedes or follows.
Listening to only one style of music is like reading only one type of book or listening to only one
political opinion. You can't appreciate anything until you are mature enough to appreciate all
sides of it. |

It depends how strictly you define rock n' roll. If you mean rock n' roll a la Elvis, clearly it has
died out except as a pantomime pastiche style still occasionally performed for nostalgia reasons. No
one can take that seriously any more.
The original rock 'n roll obviously exerted a great influence on the music that followed it,
however, spawning many other musical styles. Those styles, such as heavy metal, would have been
vastly different had rock n' roll not existed; Perhaps they could not have come into being at all.
Nonetheless, most modern musical styles are so far removed from rock and roll, that it can no longer
be deemed a significant influence on contemporary music. The great figures of rock and roll such as
Elvis or Jerry Lee Lewis are seen as garish, even ridiculous cartoon-like figures. I can't think of
any outstanding musician or group of musicians, still creating original music of the highest
quality, who could be deemed practitioners of rock and roll. Can you? |

All music is dying as corporate profits have become more important than the art of creating music.
As long as record labels keep manufacturing the next big band music will continue to homogenize.
Rock and Roll is dead, it used to be meaningful, timely, and poignant to the world around it, now it
is just about how many records can be sold and how to sell out ever more expensive concerts. As
there are exceptions to most rules there are a few but they are few and far between. |
