Just because they like rock, doesn't mean that they are ignorant to every other kind of music out there. You could easily have a certain preference, but still have thousands of other songs that you listen to that are opera, or classical.
Rock music is the best type because its range is phenomenal. There are many, many different genres of rock and so very many different sounds.
As to where you look at rap and hip hop music and it all sounds disgustingly the same.

Someone who truly appreciates music will appreciate all types of music. Only the uneducated are narrow minded enough to listen to one style alone.
