Republican Sex Education Policy Ensures Increased Levels Of Teen Pregnancy And Contraction Of STIs.
Http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jul/20/bush-teen-pregnancy-cdc-report A major health body has reported back that during Bush's 8 years in power in more than half of the American states teen pregnancy sharply rose. Reinforcement of abstinence and no sex before marriage as backed by the Republican party is a failure and will always be a failure. It doesn't give teens the knowledge about the consequences which is the obvious way to curve levels of unprotected sex. Hopefully the democrats will back more intelligent education policy in regard to this issue.

Yes abstinence is the most effective birth control. And I’m sure this will make me popular but my father gave me a shockingly detailed and specific talk when I was 13 and I was one of the few that came out of my little remote corner of small town America that wasn’t a parent by the time I was 20. I was the only one in my grade to finish college. I’m also one of shrinking group that is still married to my first spouse.
So ask yourself a question; assuming for the sake of argument that you can’t be 100% sure your kid won’t ever have sex too early (because you can’t) would you rather they are ignorant or not?

Thanks finsch, this is the point I was aiming for, personally if you frighten a kid with the consequences then that will probably make them more likely to abstain or at least use protection when they do have sex. If you just tell someone they must have abstain without giving them the knowledge then it is my belief they will carry on and do it any way.

Abstinence keeps you clean and has no following conditions. How is that failed? No one practices it.

Good point Respire. The Lib's want to use 'cultural change' to rationalize behavior but forget that disease and pregnancy still occur the old fashioned way.

If one abstains from sex there is increased in STD's and pregnancies..........this sounds like planned parenthood first line irrationality. It takes a really dumb-downed culture to buy this illogic---congratulations to our public school system---100 plus years of dumbing down america.

It doesn't matter whether there are demos or Reps in office people are going to make good and bad decisons as the bugman says, knowledge about consequences has never stopped people, especially teenagers, from thinking they will be the first ones to get away with doing whatever they want to do.

WWW.Blahblahblah. Whatever Kddan. There was a time where young people were able to 'abstain' and that time could return if the young were told that 'you really can live without sex until marriage'. I know, a radical thought.

The reason teen pregnany rises is because more teens are having sex. Your blaming of policy is specious. It is a cultural thing and the culture needs to change.

There was a time where teen pregnancy was rare.
Don't use the excuse that 'this is a different time'. That is a bogus point. People are people and good decisions are good decisions.

Bugman; While I agree with you I have to say that the idea that there was "ever" a time where the young 'uns were able to abstain is not altogether correct either. The difference is that instead of sending the kid away to live with aunt Rhodie in Goosewollow North Dakota more people are just taking their kids out of school and pretending to hide them at home until the baby is born. So this is a different time, but not because government policy is any better or worse than it use to be, that is a bogus point.
