And by this I don't just mean so called "love" relationships but all relationships that involve other people is just one long knotted string of lies, counter-lies and jockeying for the upper hand. What say you FAA?

Just because you're a cynical loser dosn't mean that the rest of us have to be. If you have problems with ALL the relationships in your life then guesss what? The common element is YOU!

What's the matter dl did I hit a little too close to where you really live? Is that why you don't debate on any of the topics you just make snide remarks? Perhaps you should get a new dictionary and look up the word cynical then look at your replies again, keep doing that for a couple of months and in about a year you'll make the connection,moron

Hello there Clarkkent and Dlmiller82....How are you doing today?  I just thought I might put some perspective on the points of view that seemingly pop up after one makes a fairly broad generalization.  Clark...if you have been hurt that deeply, I wish you the very best in finding people who treat you in the manner in which all human beings should treat each other.....I do disagree with this debate because I do feel that I have people in my life who truly love and respect me.  The thing is, not everyone has had good experiences with people and after being hurt a few times, I understand the feelings that people in general are liars, unkind or anything else you have listed.  I think that, in time, you will find people who deserve your trust and you will be relieved to be able to open up to them.

I don't think further insulting him is going to be productive AND, if he already has this perception of people, you are another person he can add to his list to make his point.

There are cynical people, eternal optimists and everything in between on the spectrum of how they view the world.  Some people do become cynical due to being repeatedly hurt.  I have no idea why clarkkent has come to this conclusion, but while one can disagree, there is little use in further putting him down.

Sorry....I am feeling pretty wordy and cheerful today.  Maybe some of my sunshine will be contagious to you....H

I wouldn't agree that ALL are like that, but I would say that most are.

Guy goes into the doctor and touches his shoulder and says this hurts, then he touches is stomach and knee and foot and head each time remarking this hurts. The doctor examines him for a moment and states, “your wrist is broken.”
Relationships can be very similar. If you are having the same problem with all of them you need to consider the problem is you. Everyone talks about meeting the right people; no one talks about being the right person.
Would you trust you if you knew what you know about yourself?

yes actually I would, becaue I know who I am and it doesn't change because of the crappy things that happen in life. and more to the point I know "know" what's really in my heart and despite my grumpy days (and they are few and far between), I hold true to who I am, I have yet to come across the significant other that can say the same. but you make a good point bang on.

Nah, not all relationships are lies. Plenty of families and friends and work relationships are healthy and honest (not all but plenty).

Healthy? Oh, wine master that's a bad word to use when regarding the interaction of two human beings. I agree that some work and after a fashion some "some" family relations may not be the worse thing in the world, but in all honesty how many family members and co-workers get to know the real person that lies in hearts of man (yes and women). We all have the public face we put on for the sake of society, and the examples you give are flawed in one very important way, with regard to family and co-workers we can with hold those things that would interfere with said relationships at will. Therefore; lie. However, as Stephen King the great sage and eminent junkie once said, if the opposite sex really knew what we were thinking they'd never sleep well again. I"m paraphrasing here.
