Reading aloud has been very useful to me, along with writing whatever I am reading dwon also. This
has been the best way for me to actually retain things. |

Meh.
If it is a tough subject=one not natural to me, maybe so, out loud.
But, usually? I enjoy a quiet book, and cup of tea = Relaxing.
Maybe even Classical radio playing..........but not the sound of my own voice talking out
loud..........;-)
Heck, then, even the soothing voice of the Classical radio DJ is unwelcome lol ;-) |

I agree with "curious'" comment about recalling text but by osmosis, one would retain several
significant facets from a book even without reading aloud. However, reading in one's mind increases
speed and thus allows for more material to be read. Moreover, reading aloud, to a harmful extent,
takes a readers focus off the content and moving this valuable concentration to enunciating the
words. |

I don't see how it could possibly be. I read a lot, and if i were to read aloud it would slow me
down tremendously. I also have the opportunity to read in public, and sometimes i hear my voice and
am not paying attention to the words. I would also look kind of stupid doing it all the time. What
are the benefits? |
