I must admit right off the bat I am kind of conflicted about this one, do I believe there need to be
stiffer punishments for these people most definitely but I think to do that there must be a better
system of deciphering the guilty from the innocent. There have been many cases of people getting
locked up when in fact they are innocent of the charges, so I'm not sure the death penalty is really
the answer, if found innocent later one cannot be brought back to life. I do strongly believe though
that maximum sentences should be abolished and only go based on the minimum. What I mean by this is
instead of say min 10-25 years have it be minimum 25 years end of story. |

I'm sorry but an eye for an eye system is far more fair. It may be too simple for some people but I
think Hammurabi was right!

Life sentence is OK but Death penalty is not the solution as in such cases such people should stay
in life imprisonment but they need medical help also. Though all kind of rapists are mentally sick
but whoever is repeating it , is severely sick and should not be a free man in any case but acute
medical observation is a necessity for such person. |

No, I really Don't like to say this because I believe every body has the right to life and that it
is sacred but theses who defile others and children in particular in this way should not have that
right. They have robbed them self of their sanctity. These sick individuals need to stricken from
the face of our earth. I would say the best way to deal with them is to take the same approach as
the ancient Egyptians took to woman beaters, and deliver them to the people. I have to agree with
Cephus on one point though, some innocent people are wrongly accused and found guilty over mundane
and innocent acts such as taking a photo of there Child's first bath or similar. These people should
not be placed in the sane category as sex offenders rapists and child abusers. |

My real question is, if every sex offender gets a life sentence, how can there ever be a repeat
offender? They never get out to offend again!
That said, I think we need to seriously rethink how we're defining sex offenders, there are people
who have to register as sex offenders because they took a picture of their own kid in the bathtub.
Doesn't that make *ALL* of our parents sex offenders?
The ones that are dangerous, they deserve to be put away forever, the ones that really didn't do
anything to harm anyone need a lesser punishment, if any punishment at all. |
