It's a 100% true fact. |

I totally there either talking about them as there a hoe or that there gonna slap them or there
gonna kill them or that there a b****
they talk as if women are hookers |

|
|
So true! Most of it calls women the b word and the h word and always talks about them like they are
hookers! |

Not necessarily degrading, but debilitating to their aspirations. |

It clearly is, on the whole, degrading to women, though with the constant use of the word "nigga"
you could say that it's degrading to men too. They have successfully argued, it seems, that "nigga,"
though it is normally considered one of the most offensive things that anyone could say, somehow, by
a mysterious process of transformation, when uttered by a black person in a rap song, becomes not
offensive at all. If you accept that argument, I don't see why you shouldn't accept the same spiel
with regard to "bitch". |

Hip Hop has so many positive aspects, yet unfortunately some worked out that by having shocking
lyrics, about violence and belittling females, sells. The best Hip Hop has never been this gun
toting, bitches n Ho's, rubbish like 50p and the rest of them no mark pricks.
I am a little out on who is the best around now, I am getting old. Jurrassic 5 and Roots Manuva are
2 top quality acts that have enough skills to be able to make hard real tunes without selling their
soul like Snoop Dog and 50p.
Gangstarr and A tribe Called Quest are the best of all time in my humble opinion. They make few
derogatory comments unless it is to a particular woman who may warrant it. |

I'm all for women's rights, and yes, rap music is degrating to women...but I see it as our fellow
women's fault. Is it the rapper's fault that there are women out there who find no problem in
selling their bodies? Pole-dancing in thong bikinis isn't exactly screaming "RESPECT ME!" |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Of course not... If the woman takes the chance of being in a video or a song that is her choice |

Is it rap music or the guy who's playing the rap music? |

Rap songs point out women who should not be glorified or seen as socially valuable. Lots of times
rap defends women having to do what they need to do to get by regardless of where the standard is
dropped. It always seemed to me something to strive to change and beware more than something that
the rappers themselves were doing wrong. There are definitely girls that "want a swig of pimp
juice" that doesn't mean that you can't write your local congressman and do something about those
pimps, TODAY! |

I really like Evidence's statements here. I think it is the fault of the women who ARE sexually
promiscuous, but I also think the men who sing the songs shouldn't generalize ALL women like that.
There are women who act and treat themselves like sex objects, and if those are the kinds of women
these men want to be around, that is fully their choice. However, I don't think fans of this
lifestyle should shout vulgar, nasty things at a woman they don't know (ahem) just because they
think she's a sex object. Humans are deeper than that (most of us, anyway), and should be treated
thusly. |

I suppose that it is true on some aspects but rap music is too broad....I'll give u an
extreme........In the country song Honkey Tonk Budunkadunk, and i don't care if i spelled that
right, they have white girls with super tight denim shorts on with there thongs pulled way up and
stuff, u can find the same in the vulgar rap videos that u speak of. So who is to blame the men
who sing the songs or the girls in the videos who mae it okay........I have seen Britney Spears
vagina 3 times in a year! And i don't know her! The most devastating and degrading thing to women is
women and the same goes for the men, politicians, races, religions, people, and countries! We are
only as bad as we make ourselves! |

Its a sweeping statement because its not the case Always!! It can be true for some Rappers but
others even degrade men and many do not degrade anyone and only give social messages which creates
social awareness in a unique way. Yes, there are others criticising society as a whole but only due
to personal reasons like a troubled childhood . |
| |
|

|

Some rap music is degrading talking about women as useless prostitutes and stuff that are only used
for sex, but these are a very minor group and i don't think that these few people should bring down
the whole genre of music! |

Yes rapper's lyrics may have vulgarity towards women..but that's just that type of music..it always
has been...rap is about good beat and sick lyrics..and that's what attracts certain people to it |
