Rap Music Is Better Than Other Kinds
I don't really know because i like rap music more, but i do like some rock music. I want to know what the people think

Some rap is cool. More times than not, though, I can't understand what they're saying.

Rap hit its zenith artistically in the early 1990s when it was at its most political, most diverse and willing to incorporate the widest styles of music. For a time, there actually were groups worth listening to.

Everything since then, however, has been lowest-common-denominator pandering, either "thuggier than thou" and insult laden stupidity, or a competition to see who can be the most obscene and sexually vulgar. Making a woman degrade herself by saying "Put it in my mouth" 50 times in a song is not art, it's softcore porn.

This is a matter of opinion. I do not think that rap music is better than other types of music. Rap music is full of bad lyrics and sounds like people running around screaming into a microphone. Some of the older rap music was okay, but the rap music of today totally stinks. There is nothing positive about it. There are many other genres out there that are way better than today's rap music. Just wait and see, in the future, you will not see or hear about the present day rappers. They are the type that are here today and gone tomorrow. They will never have the fame as the singers of the past have had over the years. Never.

Rap music has some problems as music. For one, there's usually no melody, and when there is, it's often lifted from another work. For another, the bpm at which it is played is often too high for many people. Additionally, its lyrics are often alienating and divisive.

Classic rock has the largest number of listeners.

This is simply a statement of personal preference. Think of all the people who disagree with this sentiment. Remember, a substantial portion of today's population were around before rap came on thew scene. If rap were in fact "better" than the others, we would probably have seen a shift in preference from "pre-rap era" music to rap. This has not happened. And although rap is popular among the young population, you could find a substantial amount of youths that don't care for the genre. It is definitely an overstatement although there are a lot of people who probably feel the same way as you about rap.

Its just another genre. I don't find any genre better than any other. Music taste is generally based on cultural association with a bit a cross over here and there.

Completely false, rap emphasizes the use of drugs and criminal activity as though it is something that is productive or is an inevitable path that the average African- American will follow. It gives youth the idea that it's what they have to do to succeed, while demolishing any aspiration to become something that these rap stars would deem uncool. So no i don't not think rap is better, as it is single handedly destroying our future because they really are our future and i don't want to think that the future succesors(spelling) are going to be drug addicts or cleptomaniacs.

 Rap emphasizes rebellion and protest. True certain type of rap communicate that trash, but so does many types of Rock music....I wonder why so many rockers commit suicide, what is in the message of the music. Why do mass murders choose rock as the music of choice to motivate them. but your comment is off topic. No I don't listen to rap but you have to take an objective perspective not an emotional one.
