Rap is basically drum-beat with degrading lyrics added, and guys dressed in pants which resemble
very closely a Rodeo Clown. |

I agree with you. Some of the original hip hop acts like Public Enemy actually thought of what they
were doing as a kind of anti-music.
If you're studying for an exam or something, and you can do it while listening to music, you may
find that you can't do it while listening to rap, because the human voice speaking is much more
jarring and obtrusive than the human voice singing, so it disrupts your concentration.
I think the phenomenon of poetry being read to music is potentially interesting and could perhaps be
considered an art form in itself, one that could be further developed in more interesting ways. But
it should be in a separate category from music.
I really wish rap would crawl away and die. It has produced a few things worth listening to, but not
many. I once thought it was just a passing fad which would soon blow over, but that was quite a
while ago. |

All music genre's recite poems with musical instruments in the back ground. And by saying music in
the back groung, you are prooving yourself wrong and making a huge contridiction.
But I do agree, Rap is generally horrible, and I personally don't care for it. |

Although I don't listen to rap, its music. What do you think poetry is but words to songs. You can
pluck one string to poetry and its music. You have a vague understanding of what music is. Just
because you don't like the genre doesn't mean its not music. |

Rap does classify as music. I, however, only listen to rap music to which I can actually understand
the words to, and also the songs that don’t keep the same beat and background music going
throughout the whole song. |

Why do they listen in the first place?
I don't know, maybe because society teaches them that it's cool to be immoral, socially unethical
and rudely disrespectful?
It still meets the definition of "music". |

One mans garbage is another mans treasure
i could argue that screamo is just a man screaming into a microphone but to other people its music
to their ears
and really, its up to an individual what music is, it can be made of anything, even banging on
trashcan lids in a tune
a dislike of something doesn't mean its not music
and no I'm not a fan of rap lol |
