| Racism In America Is Officially Over! |
| Barack Obama is running for President and has a good chance of winning the White House. Therefore, racism in America is officially over! (In fact, if Obama wins, it will be like racism never happened at all.) [Content Advisory: Sarcasm Alert!] |

To the non-racist person, your debate topic not only is true, but always has been true.
Racism is, ultimately, within the heart of each given individual. |

Racism i not officially over in America, nor anywhere else and it never will be because you will
always get ignorant people who believe they and their race is the best. Well, they fail. |

A fantasy. |

Skin color is becoming less relevant, but there will always be racism. |

I wasn't aware that racism was officially kept track of. |

I think you will find if Barrack wins it will really kick off. It could be worse than it ever has
and more widespread, sorry to say. |

This is probably the funniest thing I've ever heard. |

Too bold a debate statement. I'll agree it's a great sign Sen. Obama is largely accepted as a
legitimate candidate by society. I'm not aware of anyone openly protesting or rioting because an
African American (or Black, or American, however you prefer to refer to him) is close to becoming
President. Very good. But 1) Nothing will ever make racism like it never happened at all, nor
would we want to forget even if we could, 2) There are many other "races", ethnicities, minorities
in this country and the success of Obama would not mean all of those are in the clear now too, 3) As
long as there are physical and cultural differences among our citizens there will still be some kind
of racism about, and we will never ever be a monoethnic society, 4) And even if Sen. Obama's success
did mean the whites had fully accepted the blacks (and it doesn't) it would not prove that the
blacks have fully accepted the whites (and they haven't). |

Racism has been replaced by multiculturalism, which is actually only racism in disguise.
Racism is the view that there are fundamental differences between people because of their skin
colour. Multicultural views are that there are fundamental differences between people because of
their cultural background. |

It'll never be over, anywhere in the world. |

Racism is a problem among other ethnicities. African Americans are not the only victoms. Cocasion,
muslim, and pretty much every other "race" is target to someone. And just because you have an
African american in the white house it doesn't mean the stereotyping and basically blatant racism
will stop among the African Americans who live in the gheto. One of the things that will never
change and cease to exist is racism. Even if we all became one culture, and looked exactly the same
racism would just be endured through a slightly different way. |

No Leonclaude. Racism will never be over. There is too much money and power in it. See Jessie
Jackson or Al Sharpton. They are not black professionals but professional blacks. They make a good
living at playing this game.
A race that has a 70% illegitimate birth rate and a 50% dropout rate really has no business blaming
racism for it's failures.
I'm sure this sound harsh and I will be labeled a "racist" wrongly. I do not feel any race is
greater than another which defines racism. I'm just SICK AND TIRED of racism always being portrayed
as white over black and never the other way around.
If racism is so rampant, how did Obama even get this far? |

Over? Keep dreaming. You can't keep every single American from being racist just because the
president is African American. As you mentioned: "In fact, if Obama wins, it will be like racism
never happened at all"...Ridiculous. You can't just wipe events off history. |

Wow. Thinking an African American being president will erase generations and generations of racist
prejudice and intolerance and slavery isn't a very wise statement. If Obama becomes president its
not like people will just roll over and not be racist anymore. Not at all. Racism will always
exist, whether its extremely apparent as it was not even a century ago, or kept to ourselves. Admit
it, everyone has some sort or prejudice towards other races, even if they have never spoken of it to
anyone. We will always strive to be politically correct and and tolerant of all races, but it will
never happen. It is sad, but true. |

Unfortunately, I do not think racism will ever be over...people may be more accepting but still have
race issues..... |
