It is impolite to correct others. It is condecending and makes you look like a smug pompus know it
all, but alas that may be the look you are going for, What would I know? |

Yeah it is a bit unnecessary, what needs to be taken into account is that we are not all educated in
the same language or level.
That has little to do with intellect. And doesn't mean you can't make intelligent and stimulating
debate.;-) |
| |
| |
| |
I'm talking about in debates, when people just tell the writer to pick up a dictionary and neglect
to say why they voted in one particular way. |
| |
| |
Use of bad grammar and misspelled words may not get your real point across. But, to each his own. |

It OUR so i see your piont but if ppl cant understand you then..... |

It does seem quite bigoted of people to correct spelling and grammar, but I suppose it is a form of
diversity. And debating is hardly about your spelling and punctuation, it's about different
opinions, is it not? |
| |
| |

In a debate, yousing correct speeling and gramar make you sounds more smrt-like. |
| |
| |
| |

Proper grammar makes u look and sound smarter, for example, if u said, Man i ain't never seen no one
be dumber then them box of rocks, u would seem pretty dam stupid, which in turn makes your debate
not worth any ones time. |
| |
| |

If you are either expressing your opinion through a comment or an actual debate, then it is better
to get the spelling and grammar correct so people fully understand the statement. |
| |
| |
| |
In a debate you want to be taken seriously, as long as it’s a serious debate to begin with. If you
want to be taken seriously you need to at least make your argument legible. All you have to do is
use Microsoft Word. |

No.
Because we use alternative spellings for our punnies.;-)
do not try and mess with our SCENTS of humour ;-) THAT STINKS !!! |

If you don't want people to say anything about it, then correct it.
That's how it was when I was roleplaying, internet-wise.
If you made a mistake, or error in your posts then it was considered void and you would have lost a
hit.
So you had to get your grammar down.
And basically your grammar, well your knowledge of it to be exact, was like your pride back when I
did it. ( I don't know if it still is. )
Now I can type with little mistakes in what I come up with and do it with speed. |

People who correct the grammar of others are not trying to look smarter. Sometimes they need
clarification to better understand what the person is trying to say. |
| |
| |
| |
As Finsch says, some 'English' on this site is just appalling, and actually gets in the way of the
debating.
Oh, and whilst I assume you got 'Are/Our' wrong on purpose, it's grammAr, not grammer. I'm playing
the irony card here for all it's worth. |
| |
| |
| |
It's not uncommon for debates to be so terribly written on this site that even if I can tell what
the basic subject matter is, I still have no idea whether to agree or disagree. |
| |
| |
| |
It depends, a missing period, misplaced punctuation, or few common mistakes is understandable, but
if I read a comment that looks to be written by a three year old, then I usually disregard it. |
| |
| |
| |
Grammar can’t be corrected if it’s not incorrect. If you want people to stop correcting your
spelling, spell correctly. That’s the sure way to prevent them from trying to sound smart by using
grammatical superiority. |

If we don't all use the same standards of English than how will we understand each other more
betterly for the situations that we talk about all the times on this place? |
