In Britain, public schools are private. If you are however, referring to state schools then I agree
that children don't get the same opportunities if they are educated at home. |

I agree, home schools do not prepare kids for the outside world with social skills, they do not
generally make new friends in the confines of their home (except for their 99 year old neighbor
lady), and they generally lack the people skills that are learned in public education. |

Home-schooling allows children to be perniciously brainwashed by their parents, and helplessly
indoctrinated with the parents' cult-like beliefs. There is no nonsense so extreme that you can't
brainwash a child with it, as long as you call it a religion.
The truth is that the average adult is not intelligent or knowledgeable enough to teach their
children adequately. Look at the quality of spelling and grammar on this site for proof. And no,
it's not all coming from children.
If you home school your child, you are limiting your child's potential, holding it down to your
level. Of course, most home-schooling parents don't really care about that, since their main
motivation is to indoctrinate their children with the magical beliefs of their cult, rather than
instill knowledge into them and prepare them for the challenges of life.
Based on a recent study that showed 16% of science teachers in American public schools were
creationists, however, it seems the situation is not much better there. |

My understanding is the public schooling came about in the age of industrial revolution. Companies
needed people to be educated just enough to work machines. Public schooling is a socialistic
idea.
Public schooling is also a way of trying to force the same knowledge into every child's brain.
Home schooling means children are more likely to get the right amount of attention and learn based
more on their curiosity.
I've only met a few people that were home schooled and one of them plays Violin solos in Italy and
the others were pretty smart. |

Where is your proof? Because my proof tells a much different story. My experience tells me that the
social skills of most school children is NOTHING to brag about. You people seem to imagine a whole
lot of ridiculous stuff and then think it's true. Is that something one learns from government
education??? Show me some proof that "children in home schools seem a bit, well, socially
ill-mannered". That is just plain ignorant and it comes from people who are not intelligent enough
to even consider that they don't have the slightest clue. My kid has plenty of friends who attend
public school and I'm here to tell ya - I MUCH prefer him to hang out with the well-adjusted home
schooled children.
My 3 year old has more of a social life than any older government school educated child I've ever
met. We have these things called co-op's. They allow for classrooms, teachers who are
professionals in their fields and an abundance of social activities. Then - in addition to that -
believe it or not homeschoolers are actually allowed in church, scouts, sports and all the other
social activities that government school kids are allowed to do! Imagine that? If you still think
you know a thing about homeschooling, just know - you DON'T. |
