Yes but it is important to take into account that it should not be allowed to disrupt the class in
any way.;-)) |

I do think students should be allowed to pray in school if they so desire, as long as no one tries
to force or pressure anyone to pray in a certain way or at all. I think it is actually more of a
discrimination to say that you can't pray in school. |

Yes, they have the freedom of religion. |

Religion shouldn't be restricted or limited |

There should be a right to express ones religion in any public place although not to convert people |

I agree. Praying is a process of building personal relationships with God and students should have
the right to this as long as they are not forcing their own faith onto their peers or affecting the
entire school simply because they are to pray. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
I'm for it as long as it does not interfere with the regular activities of the school. Students
should not ask for special periods of time or dedicated areas.
Praying is something personal and private. |

Any child that feels the need to pray no matter where they are, should have the privilege to do so.
This religion thing has gone too far. There is such a thing as freedom of speech and if a child
decides to do so, so be it. Schools have no right to stop them. True Christians would never put a
stop to this. I find it derogatory for teachers and staff to be against praying. |

Yes they should you should be able to pray whenever you want wherever you want. |

I am a Christian, i believe we should be allowed to pray in school. This is for all religions too.
It is also in the constitution , freedom of religion. |

Yes they should have the right. It's what they believe in and if you live in a free country then
no-one can stop you, it would just be unfair. |

Yes people should just because people don't all believe in God people who do should have the right
to pray in school cause God guides our lives and helps us overcome challenges |

I don't think the school should set aside time for the religious (if it is a public school, of
course). Some would say that it is establishment of religion which goes against the U.S.A.
Constitution (I know many of you are not in the U.S.) In a way, it would be promoting it. Anyway,
the freedom to pray should be given, as long as the student does not say "AUMMM" in the middle of
lecture or "disrupt the learning environment," although a teacher could consider a student closing
her/his eyes to pray, a disruption- so there is a time for everything, generally. One can pray
without speaking. It would be unconstitutional and wrong to prohibit prayer if it does not hinder
the learning. |
| |
|
| |
|

Kids should absolutely be allowed to pray as long is doesn't disturb others.
I have also heard that since they took prayer out of school (in 1963), many immoral things (like
teen pregnancy, violence, gangs, etc.) have increased by a large percentage. Check it out, I believe
it's true. |

School should not be bounded by the wall of religion. Every school should be very much open to
different kind of religious students and should encourage their different religion too. Therefore
every student must get the chance to pray their respective God in school. Unless this will be social
drawback and the student as well as his or her religion will get the ultimate insult from the
school. This can be proved very much depressing for the children and their heart can be broken in no
time. This will affect their study and they can be hurt badly. According to me, as long as the
prayer of a student does not disturb another student or the school atmosphere, it should be
appreciated. There should be a calm area where they can pray in their own manner. |
| |
|
| |
|

Totally i mean school should not get involved in religion. And it also shows how somebody is and
what they are like. But i bet there will be just 1 person only 1 out of 60000000000 people in the
world that will complain and they will probably change the rules and that's not right. For example
the under god in the pledge of allegiance 1 person complained and it became a big deal if we didn't
have people like that in the world we probably not have this conversation. |

I agree. |

I believe everyone should be able to pray but not only to God. I'm not a christian. I also believe
it should not be out loud where it may disturb others. |

All students should be allowed to practice their preferred religion in school. However, students
should never be forced to pray. Students and teachers alike should be allow to pray or practice
their religion in school just as they are free and permitted to practice it in society. As long as
it does not bother another student or teacher or interferes with the school work, then I don't see
anything wrong with praying and practicing religion in the school. Many schools have a moment of
silence, and it is during this time the students reflect or pray according to their religious
beliefs. This idea works well in many schools in the United States. |

Yes i too agree you should be allowed practice what ever religion you want in your school as long
as it doesn't get in the way of the work you do . I go to a catholic school in Ireland but you can
practice whatever religion you want as long as you get permission from your parents .is it against
the law to pray in schools where you are from ? Cause if someone stopped you from praying in my
school you could take them to court |
| |
|
| |
|
| |

I agree with your proposal because you clarify "practicing any religion." I'm against a certain sect
of religion requiring everyone in the school to pray the same way, but I agree with having an
allotted time for PERSONAL prayer, even if it's none. |
| |
|

|

You're a liar if you are saying that students can't pray now. You're an even bigger liar if you
don't admit to what you really want.
You don't want religion in schools. You want YOUR religion in schools.
And if the religious want to pray in a school, the godbots should leave and waste their time in
another room while the real students stay put and study. If you want the ignorance of religion,
then don't force others to be ignorant as well by making them unable to work.
Edit:
The religious are those who want to have religion. They keep it private.
The godbots are those who want other people to have their religion. They keep forcing it on
the public.
Anyone who can't differentiate between the two is a godbot.
Further edit:
If you're too stupid to read and tell the difference in what I said above, then you probably are a
rabid godbot. |

No, I'm against it. In most schools , or some, if you want to do something for prayer, you can do it
after or before school, To do this though it has to be completely voluntary, and not putting in the
way of other students.
It should not be mandatory because not everyone believes int he same thing. |

History shows that religion has a funny way of getting people killed by people of other religions.
Allowing religion in schools may only increase tension between already unfriendly factions. School
is a place to learn, not to pray. If you are seeking reconciliation, go to a holy building specific
to your religion, or go to a private school for your religion.
I believe in the separation of church and state. Religion should be a personal thing that is yours
alone to reflect on (not to say that you can't express your faith, but it's better if you do that in
your place of worship). Also, school is supposed to be unbiased, and I believe adding religion to
the mix will only create an unfair learning environment. |

I do believe that every person, child or adult, should be able to pray when they want... And for
the most part... They do. People who practice a faith pray all the time... In quite.. Where it
should be. A prayer is meant to be between you and God or your higher power only. It's not meant
for others to hear.
I do not think there should be an allotted time for prayer in school. People don't need that
special time in school to pray. Because if they really wanted to pray, they could, any time they
wished. Plus, it isn't fair for the other children to sit quietly in class while others are
praying.
Not everyone has a religion or prays to a higher power. For those that don't', it would be very
uncomfortable to them and that isn't right either... Esp. When prayers can be sent at any time, in
silence, like they should be. |

Setting aside a specific time for "religious prayer" should not be instituted into schools. Schools
are government-run, and have no place to mix with religion and religious practices. If there were a
certain time everyday that everyone was asked to keep quiet so people could pray, it would not work
out. Many, if not most, students would not take advantage of the time to pray. They would goof off
and be rude.
Also, anyone who isn't religious may feel alienated for not having a religion at all. Setting aside
time specifically so students can pray is the same as telling students they should be religious. It
would be like having religion forced upon you. |

Schools should be open to all people of all religions.
The government(UK) is trying to discourage religious affiliations in education.
Religious segregation is destructive to positive social integration and toleration.
Schools and educational institutions should be non-religious.
There's no harm in having a quiet area where people can pray, sit in silence, contemplation. This
can be done outside lesson time, during breaks, before school begins and after it finishes.
The idea of a multi-faith room for such a purpose is excellent and could promote better inter-faith
tolerance and understanding but I think any time spent in this way should be outside the time
allocated for lessons. Prayer is personal and not part of job of schools to foster religious
education of individuals, except as part of subjects such as the philosophy of religion. |
