President Obama And Professor Gates Are Racists
As the facts accumulate and the truth comes out, it appears that Professor Gates' interaction with the Cambridge police demonstrates his inherent racism in the knee jerk response to the police simply doing their job. The president speaking on this issue seemed odd, in the first place. He admittedly didn't yet have the facts, but went ahead and declared the police stupid. Frankly, this is utter prejudice on his part. Is it wise to have such a prejudiced, racially biased person leading our country?

Seems like a black and white catch 22 situation to me.

Absolutely. Aparently, it ALWAYS is the white mans fault when there is a situation involving a black man and a white officer. By the way- When was the last time you heard about racial prejudice by a black officer? NEVER!

Black officers are nicer to whites than they are to blacks. I wonder why? Are they still seeking acceptance.

While on the other hand white officers kill, maim, etc. blacks? Remember the good old days and the good old boys?

Take the night Obama was nominated - blacks were racially profiled and dealt with in such manner just because they were out celebrating Obama nomination

I am editing this paragraph because finsch said it better than I could Professor Gates felt unfairly persecuted.

I don't think I would say racist. I do think they both exercised poor judgment .

I do not think this situation demonstrates that Obama is racist, but I do think he probably should have had all of the facts before speaking about the issue. It is my understanding that he was speaking about the situation based upon what his friend, Prof. Gates told him and he had not spoken to the officer or any law enforcement officer before he made the speech. While, I find the comments on racial profiling to be unjustified before he had all of the facts, it doesn't appear that his statement was racially motivated. I'm not an Obama fan, but on this front, I think he was supporting a friend and making a statement regarding the fact that it was rather stupid for the police to arrest a man for being in his own home.

To be clear, I disagree with the statement, but don't think that President Obama was being a racist. I think he is inexperienced, one of the reasons I am not an Obama fan, but not racist. I didn't see any of his remarks regarding racial profiling. If I missed anything like that, I would perhaps change my mind or have more of a mixed opinion,

Obama didn't assert racism he asserted stupidly; frankly he doesn't sound that far off base. Even though Gates was overreacting and being a bit of an ass that's not illegal, and he did provide identification, and he was being hassled in his own house which would piss me off as well. Crowley, in my opinion didn't have a very good reason to arrest him, I don't think it was racism I just think he wanted revenge for challenging his authority.
You could make a case for Gates being a racist but then again maybe not. He was probably off base about Crowley, but if you think there aren’t plenty of white racists around then you are a fool. And being arrested by the police in your own house when you haven’t done anything illegal makes you feel unfairly persecuted, surprise surprise.

President Obama and Professor Gates are not racists but they do have black roots and those roots can sometime be tapped when one of our own is mistreated because this treatment brings to mind memories of the past - this past is yours as well as mine. So, the President's reponse was reaction to well known hurts. When, where, and how will WE ever be truly treated equally?

The professor is well known. Most city and government departments and those that work within them know who's who. The policeman's actions were more than likely based on sterotyping of a black man whose ownership of a mansion didn't set well with him so he chose to give him a little " hell".

Oh goody I hear the race train blowing it's whistle again WOOO WOOO. My god people when are we going to get it through our heads that when it comes to ANY news report we never get all of the facts. If it's not the news stations going for ratings, then it's reporters going off half cocked because they know it'll start the gallop polls, email debates etc. And if it's not one or the other of those issues then it's based on whom we are trying to bash. Cop haters, President O haters, white haters, and black haters it all comes to the same thing. We the people going batsh#* over someone stating their OPINION. And despite those who'd say he shouldn't say this that or the other in ear shot of the media when exactly is that likely to happen? He's the frikkin' pres everything he says is going to be noteworthy so far as the rest of the world is concerend. As to the race issue well ladies and fellows we've been kicking that tired ole horse since Sept 22nd 1862. And if it matters I'm black, however It's wayyyyyy past time for those of us on both sides of the fence to accept this truth, black white or other as long as some group is different than another we flawed human beans are going to have racism. Just get use to the fact that every Johnny simpleton can get on the news and the radio and go on and on. That's one of the freedoms we all have so deal with it. And one more thing why is it that we can keep going on and on about the pres and his birth certificate, but god forbid he should have an opinion and (gasp) actually express it. Then it's reverse discrimination this and racist that. GEEEAHHH blwoing a fuse over here people.

Well, and bluntly said. Too explain my posting on the other side: It seems that every time that a race 'issue' occurs, the white person is always cast as the perpetrator. It just gets old. There are idiots of both races that hate simply because of color.

In my opinion, I think we are all a bit racist. I don't think it is a conscious decision but rather due to life experience. I believe that Officer Crowley overreacted because he probably has been accused of racial profiling in the past when that wasn't the case. I think Proffessor Gates overreacted because he probably has been a victim of racial profiling in the past. This whole issue has been blown way out of porportion and by doing that it just raises racial tensions. As far as Obama being racist, I believe he is just like every other human being and has ideas and opinions based on his experiences. That being said, I think President Obama is qualified to run the country.

Obama was raised by his white mother.

He JUST made a speech about how being black isn't an excuse to blame others for your problems, (whether or not they had caused them... Lol he didn't actually say that part)

I strongly doubt he is a racist. He would hate half of himself, and his mother if he was.
