Grenache has covered things well. There is a big difference between growing any produce of your own
and what you might buy in the supper-market. Even a greengrocer will have better potatoes as the
usually contain far less water.
But the ones i dig up from the end of May onwards are in my garden are great;-)) |

First - to pay respect to the potato - it's delicious and I've eaten tons of them in my life.
Second - to clarify - a) yes it is a vegetable so I'm not sure why Eeyore says having carbohydrates
excludes it from that. Frankly all vegetables have carbohydrates, just some have more than others
and most other vegetables counterbalance the carbs via fiber. B) Apples are not vegetables they're
fruit so I don't know why Homestar would use that for comparison.
Third - the reasons I vote against - a) Potatoes are not "the most amazing", there's way too much
competition in the vegetable field to declared potatoes alone on top, b) Potatoes are far more
fattening and far less nutritionally balanced than most all the rest of the produce section of your
supermarket, c) I'd argue the brassica family of vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, etc.)
is the most amazing because they are nutritional powerhouses, packed with vitamins and calcium, and
even have anti-cancer properties. In some parts of the world people virtually live on just the
cabbage family. I know not everyone likes these foods, but the truth is everyone likes potatoes
because they're carb candy. |

I didn't think potatoes were classed as a vegetable cos they have like a load of carbohydrate in i
think and they aren't classed in the 5 a day thing x |
