What do you mean by popular? Cause some people could be popular and like you know be mean while
other people can be popular and not do anything bad. Like those people who are always trying to
impress those bratty people who call themselves popular and are just plain mean. But then someone
could be a good person and popular won't be bad cause you are trying to be with good people which
will make "correctness" |

Completely true, especially with teenagers and peer pressure. Far too often teenagers get into
trouble for doing what the rest of teh group is doing and it is a shame that they feel the need to
do the wrong thing to become popular |

Too true, human sacrifice use to be popular but it sure as sugar wasn't right. Besides if popular
were right we'd actually have to believe all that stuff on Fox news. UGH |

Popular isnt always right or thats what all the teen movies tell me |

I agree as crossdressing is estimated at 10% of the worlds population it is not the popular thing to
do but here I am. |

Well, duh unfortunately though, popularity alone can breed concurrence. |

Being popular is not more important then other things. Popularity can also get you into trouble as
you may need to defy others to maintain your popularity. |

Popularity means only that someone is following the crowd, majority or their peer group at the time
and can sometimes lead to bad influences being inflicted. However a person could be popular and
still be very much independent in their thoughts actions and ideas so it could possibly be that it
depends on a person whether popularity is good or bad for them . |

Yes.
Popular is NOT always or even very often right.

Of course it isn't always right, it basically depends on being ignorant just like how it was once
popular for example that before the world was round,t hat was proven wrong although the popular
choice was it being flat, you just have to explore the truth! |

I agree completely. People think its cool to smoke and gang beat people and that is
not correct in any way. |
| |
|

I completely agree. The popularity of something is of complete irrelevance to its worth. They do
often overlap but are largely unconnected. All I need to do to highlight my point is ask people to
look at the mot popular music, films and TV programmes. They are very rarely the best. (If correct
means good in this instance). |

they definitely aren't right now |

Yes - a common flaw in arguments is "democratic fallacy" - ie. Claiming something is true just
because the majority of people believe it. |

Most popular ppl are fake. Most of the popular ppl in my school don't act like their selves or are
too self centred to care about anyone but themselves. |

Of course! Many of the "popular" and "in" fashions for girls are making them look slutty and
unreasonable. It is hard for a girl to find clothes that make her look good and cover her body at
the same time. Many of the teen or young women in Hollywood and the music industry also don't send
out a good message for girls either. |

Just look at macroevolution. It is wrong because it contradicts entropy and the fossil record shows

It is a very true fact that popularity has got nothing to do with correctness. Being popular does
not make you right or correct all the time. People often become popular for many reasons. Some may
become popular for doing something good, in such cases you can say that he or she is popular and
what they have done is right, correct or rather good. Some may do something good for the society and
become popular. But not in every case it is the same. It may happen that some may do something which
is not acceptable by the society or something which is harmful for any one and yet he or she became
popular. In such cases it is not at all right of him or her as the popularity is doing no good to
others. |

Popular is not always right. Too true. That's why the great democracies are in so much trouble. |

I fail to see what popularity has to do with "correctness". I don't even know what you mean by
"correctness". Popular people aren't always correct or right. The same applies to any thing
considered popular. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Yes I agree with the statement that popular is not right. I want to extend it by saying that no one
is hundred per cent right in this world as no one is perfect. Human beings make mistakes. That is
how they learn. If someone is popular then that doesn’t mean that he has good knowledge and
understanding of every matter. A very few people have good acumen of things and they are not always
popular people but respectful personalities of the society. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
I can say that most of the times popular is not right at all. |
| |
|
| |

Yeah, I agree. Popularity isn't equal to correctness. And I once heard of a joke, flu is popular
too, but is it good for our health? Lol. Some popularity even lead people in the wrong direction. |

Popular is a word. How can it possibly be wrong or right???
I think the youth of today are gonna be surprised when they mature and realize that "popular" ain't
all that! |

I think if your popular you are more outgoing. So your less scared to do things. It helps your self
esteem the more people you know the more your likely to be yourself. There is both pros and cons on
this subject. |

Popular can be right if we are talking about making a popular decision. Surely a popular decision
would serve the populous and therefore, even if it were morally or ethically wrong, because it was
in that sense popular, it is right.
Popular original meaning in Old French is 'of the people'. Is it possible that a popular choice or
a popular decision could be wrong. Yes, but surely if it pleases most of the people and the people
make the decision whether something is right and wrong, then it can't really be unpopular or wrong.
What I'm saying is that since humans create a sense of right or wrong and they together make
something popular or not, surely popular can be right all the time. Of course, something can be
popularly wrong at the same time.
Is a popular person right all the time, no of course not. But other people make that person popular
which means that they must be doing something right, so surely they could be counted on to make
popular rather than unpopular decisions. As we have already concluded earlier, decisions that are
made popularly and serve the people cannot be wrong because they serve the majority and in all
societies the majorities rule. That's just the way it is.
Of course, sometimes people make mistakes, many Germans followed Hitler of course, but they
apparently didn't know about his plans for the Jews with the Final Solution to the Jewish question.
However, at the time, Hitler was very popular and to those who believe in him, he was right. Of
course, as soon as you no longer believe in the popular opinion, then you hold yourself outside of
societal norms. This can make you fringe, considered dangerous by the norms of society.
A popular person can lose their popularity by making wrong decisions, but they become wrong when a
large majority of the people believe them to be wrong. It's a bit of a snake eating its tail of a
debate isn't it? |

No:
1) A popular person is always right in our society.
2) When a person is popular, he or she will think twice before doing anything.
3) A popular person is usually involved in charitable purposes.
4) A popular person is an idol in society.
So, we can say that a popular person is always right. |
