Peter Hain Has Failed To Declare 17 Donations To His Campaign. He Should Resign
He said that overwork caused him to forget the £103,000 he received! He and others who do this should resign.

Honesty and adherence to the law of the country and every political are demanded by the people of every country. No leader is above the law in any country. Integrity and positive character are critical if any government is to maintain the trust of its people.

I think that he and others who fail to declare donations, although what he did was not illegal, should resign on moral grounds.
If Hain and others like him, can't remember 17 donations amounting to over £103,000, then they either have far too much money and/or can't cope with the job.
Hain said the was so busy and pressured that he failed to notice the money and presumably others in his sway are to blame.
If he's so over-worked then he isn't coping and can't serve his position well.
It can't be proved that he lied but it does bring his credibility into question. Brown has backed him on the surface of it but it's up to the PM to underline to his government how serious this matter is.
This happens far too often and the Conservatives are going here too.
How can we trust our politicians to be honest, open, moral, ethical and serve us well when they can't declare their donations honestly?

I don't see why Hair and others like him should resign if they're doing their job well.
It's not illegal what he's done so why should he resign. It hasn't been proved that he's lied either. If he was proved to have lied that might make his credibility shaky but until proven guilty he's innocent.
He's A good enough Welsh secretary and of course Plaid Cymru have jumped on the bandwagon of criticism but they aren't squeaky clean either.
Perhaps Hain was too involved in doing his real job to notice what his staff were doing and after all this is what he pays them for.
If he tried to do all admin and accounts himself he wouldn't be able to concentrate on more important items on his agenda.
If politicians who didn't declare donations were proved to be liars or were acting illegally then yes it would be a different matter.
It's not quite like the cash for honours scandal and MP's have to fund their campaigns somehow and this shouldn't come from public money so what else but donations freely given by supporters>
