Clearly it's an exaggeration to say that religion is the cause of all major wars in history. It has
still been a destabilising force throughout history, though, and the cause of many wars, or a
significant enabling influence on them.
Your claim that Hitler "hated religion" is flat-out false. Hitler was a strong religious believer
who invoked God continuously throughout his life. There is a debate elsewhere on the site in which I
decisively refute the contrary opinion. There is also an article in the Articles section of the site
showing the same thing.
Don't underestimate the religious factor in the Cold War. It was apocalyptic Good vs Evil fantasies
in America which gave rise to the Cold War and later sustained it and these were nourished in part
by the fact that the Soviet Union was dedicated to atheism.
It's absurd to say that the 2003 war was caused by a desire to eliminate WMDs. No one with a clue
thinks that Bush & co. Really believed there were WMDs there or that, if he did, it was the main
motivation for his invasion. A desire to hit back against Muslims was decisive in lending popular
support for Bush's war and thus making it possible, so it fits perfectly into the religious war
paradigm. |

never religion. Typically it's resources, either natural or territorial. |

If u really wanted to make a valid point u would list the death toles for all religious wars and all
none religious based wars u would see that there are far more on the deaths on the religious
sides
oh don't leave out the crusades!
And if u want to be specific and thorough which you seem to lack the ability.
U could say that most migration from one area to another is for freedom of religion. (Something the
catholic church would eliminate today if they could) Then later wars were fought over those lands
the only reason the ppl fighting were not one in the first place is because of the religious
feuding.
One of the reasons we settled in the Americas was for our freedom of religion. Eventually leading
to the Revolution.
Then there is the Spanish revolution. Oh and if you would really like to read facts, pick up the
guiness book of world records find the top 10 genocides and count the ones backed by religion. Than
make a list post it so i can show you the others that u decided not to count because you didn't know
what they were about.

We are fighting in Iraq because Saddam Hussein was a tyrant committing acts of inhumanity. On ppls

guess what! Didn't have the same religious beliefs as him.
Shiites and the Kurds
Than there is the Tutsi genocide in Rawanda which was started by the Hutus which started as a
religious tribal group who felt that the Tutsi's were blasphemous towards their gods.
I am not going to say that religion is the reason wars are casued but ppl with "blind faith" and
many do, will follow any cause so long as religion is behind it. And that is why religion, if not
directly starts a war, is an accomplice to it. |
