People Who Disagree With Gays Lifestyle Throw In Religion To Make Their Opinion Seem Right.
That's the only thing they can use to reassure themselves. Sadly.

Since the supposed first bible it has been translated many times and is it not possible that was really being said has been lost intranslation. Let us not forget the bible was written by man and their prejudices of the time may have been put in and simply passed down.
I'm gay and when ever a Christian hears this they always throw a hundred bible quotes at me without ever actually knowing me. Surely this shows their lack of argument and these views are now outdated.

Bible was written by men inspired by god,
inspiration...
I choegraphed a dance inspired by noise pollution, the end effect was nothing like my inspiration

i painted two pictures based on anorexia, looked nothing like a tiny skinny girl at the end

you can be inspired by anything but the end result be completely different

there is not much evidence on the bible being an accurate account on 'the son of god', and if there was, it obviously was not important enough to be kept safe.

So why do radical religious people bring up holy scriptures in almost every singe debate on this site.

Did anyone notice that some of the people saying against this justified their beliefs against homosexuals partially with their religion (not entirely, luckily)

I think that most people don't solely rely on the religion card, though most do have it as a supporting factor. Also a lot of arguments other than officially religious reasons are taken from or influenced by the person's religious bias, like something being 'natural' or not.

Yup...as a proud lesbian i agree to this statement whole-heartedly. If someones bold enough to insult me to my face and make a moronic comment about how ill never get to heaven....all i gotta say is if there is a heaven i don't wanna go there anyway...why would i want to spend one more minute being judged and surrounded by hatred all because i happened to fall in love with a woman.

You go, girl. :D There's absolutely nothing wrong with this lifestyle. I wouldn't want to go to heaven either if the Spirit's going to discriminate against certain people.

Sadly, this is also what I have seen. It would be nice to be proven wrong on this fact every now and then...

I agree that a good number of people do use religion as a foothold for their arguments against homosexuality. In fact, I rarely hear any other arguments.

There are strange people in this world who disagree with the same gender couple lifestyle. They have strong notions in their head that these are not right or good. They do not even try to understand that when science have approved to it then there must be some truth behind it, though it sounds not so normal. But when they find that their adamant notions are being challenged by anything then they involve religion and other spiritual matters to make their statements true and make them look right. They try to dominate other people by bringing those topics which are not relevant to the issue and try to make others believe that they are right and others are wrong. They do this just to win over the argument because they want to establish what they believe and not what truth is.

I think the Abrahamic religions try to back up their 'gays are evil' thing with religious texts to whatever, not so much the eastern or pagan(earth) religions. But if (using Christianity as a example) God said love every one and such or repent and you can go to heaven doesn't that just contradict every thing they said against homosexuality? (I'm not sure if any of that made sense, let me know )

I think in most cases, the religious belief comes first and then the overwhelming hatred of gays comes from that. Either way, it's idiotic.

I think there's a lot of hatred in man who puts it in the religious belief, and pretty much everywhere he goes. If you look at a lot of atheist states like the Soviet Union, China, etc. they didn't treat gays all that kindly. Actually they treated it as a mental disease. Man brings his hatred of that which is different where ever he goes.

A lot of peoples opinions on homosexuality are entirely based on their religious beliefs. Many not knowing any gays at all. I'm a Pagan, and a Pagan minister. Am I gay? Sure. I'm often told by people that I'm going to hell. On the other hand, i can tell them that they are going to die, rot in the earth, and never go to heaven. Do they believe me? No. Do i believe them? No. And so the circle of life takes another predictably slow turn.

Yeah...it seems that every person who tells me being a lesbian is wrong throws in that i wont go to gods kingdom and that it says it's wrong in the bible...my question, did god sit down and write the whole bible,no,its a bunch of other people that speak gods word for him.it just seems like they throw that in there to make a logical reason as to why it's wrong. No one has an answer for it though.

why don't you want to have sex with men?
were you abused or something?
or, have you always felt that way about females?

I just wondered.
You dont have to respond.
I apologize if this question seems rude to you.
Its not intended that way.

It seems like it. Not everyone believe in the same religion and some people don't get that. I hate it when people are like "this is the right way" then I have to tell them I'm not that Religion and they are "oh" or "well then you are wrong" .

People have different opinions and ways of live. I''m not saying the all people that put religion in the convo are wrong I'm just saying that , saying it doesn't mean you are right.

well as for gays i think that it is morally wrong but that doesn't mean that i would have the right to hate the person just for being gay, and with many people who are Bible believing Christians like myself then they ought to know that it is the problem not the person that should be disliked!!!! i have my handy dandy Bible here in front of me and i found a verse that talks about homosexuality....it reads in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11," do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters now adulterers now male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you WERE. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." and here we are looking at the sin issue and there God clearly states that homosexualit is wrong and was not intended, why do you think that God made a woman, Eve, for Adam in the garden of Eden? and He clearly states throughout the Bible, THE Truth, that it should be one man and one woman?...and the Bible was written by men, and inspired by GOD.

Some people do, indeed, refer to their religion and try to use theological arguments in order to justify their opposition to gay marriage. Nevertheless, if you were to poll the majority of people opposed to things like same-sex marriage, you would probably find that they would not provide any religious arguments at all, in order to explain their opposition. I think that the most common argument against gay lifestyles--even though it is not very compelling--is that this is just "unnatural." The vast majority of people who are opposed to gay marriage, or who take issue with homosexuality in general, are not practicing Christians to begin with.

There are also secular arguments against same-sex marriage, which have been used by some academics. One of the most prominent examples is Margaret Somerville, the founder of the Centre for Medicine, Ethics and Law at McGill University. In 2003, she submitted an 11 page brief entitled "The Case Against Same-Sex Marriage" to Canada's Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights. In it, she argued that the primary purpose behind marriage was reproduction, a goal that gay couples could not meet.

i agree we cant reproduce with same sex's obliviously, but not everyone is gay,you have millions of straight people out there who can gladly have sex,or in most cases, when straights mess up or are irresponsible, and give their kids up for adoption when they are born because they cant care for them,we'll do you the favor of gladly adopting them.

You'd have to know the Bible well to know why they say the things they do.Some just don't know how to convey it in a different manner than they are taught. They ,I , believe it to be 'Truth' and say the things they do with all good intentions.,for the most part.

First off, we don't do it to make our debates sound right, they're the valid proof homosexuality is bad. And as said before in your chat box, we're saying so as warnings, not threats or anything trying to make us sound better.

And besides, God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.

According to the bible God created everyone. I'm sure he must have created Steve (Just as he did Miriam, Lance, Margaret, Hillary, and Denny Crane).

I disagree with this debate. Homosexuality is against most Christian religions and that is why people use religion to justify their belief. I am against homosexuality. I not only think that it is against religion, it is just plain sick. We do not see animals engaging in homosexual activity. It is not naturally correct. If God wanted people to be gay, he would not have created two different sexes. I definitely believe that it is a choice or a lifestyle. It is not something anyone is born with. People are gay by choice, just as heterosexual people choose the mate they want to be with. Therefore, I do not solely use religion to justify my beliefs although it does play a big part.

to you it may be sick. but that's your opinion that your entitled to. animals also don't have sex for pleasure. and it's not a choice, you don't know what it's like to be gay, so you can't say that you know for sure...it's also a sin to hate people, so you shouldn't hate us.
