People Should Respect The Current President Whether They Like Him/her Or Not.
Too many people are disrespectful towards Presidents they don't like. They should show support for him/her.

That is true. Although you may have not voted for him/her, you should still respect them, because the majority of people chose him/her and you were just overpowered. If more people like the current President, then that means the current President is best.

Speaking for President Obama primarily, you should give him a chance. It's not like you could do any better, if you could you would be president. So people should stop saying "oh, he's a liar, he hasn't done anything he said he would." A flick of the wrist won't fix everything, it takes lots of dedicated, hard work. And to set the record straight, only one president got the U.S completely out of debt, and we are currently over 11 trillion $ in debt.

You should respect the office, if not the person. Way back when, when Clinton (Bill the first) was in office, Conservative Talk show superstar Rush Limbaugh would refer to him with some respect because he held a "sacred" office.

Sometimes it's very difficult. Respect the office, but not necessarily the man? President Harding lost the White House china in a poker game. Half of his friends and appointees plundered the US treasury. He was horrible. Jackson is considered a great president and he was the one that set the policy of the eradication of the American Indian in place. Wilson was really the first fascist of the 20th century. He arrested people that disagreed with WWI and put them in jail for 10 years, and he arrested newspaper men that disagreed with him. There are a few pre-civil war presidents that could have taken steps against slavery but didn't and let the confederate bloc grow. Jimmy Carter...well he was just a nightmare.

So, it is very hard to respect the person at times, but in some way it is important to respect the office.

By the way, there were some remarkably good presidents, in both character and behavior.

Our current president is the biggest liar that has ever been elected.
He hasn't done one thing he's promised.
He's only given money to the rich.....bankers, insurance co.. Etc.. And passed more PORK than all the last presidents combined.
In the next couple of years, watch INFLATION and then watch a lot more people lose their homes.....
He's created 30,000 jobs, by his own admission......we have More that that unemployed in the small town I live in. Big deal.
Don't even try to stick up for the jerk Hidell,
you don't live here and the only thing you know is hear say...
Respect him........you are kidding

If you believe our current president is the biggest liar ever elected you are obviously more a student of AM radio than history.

No. The vigorous expression of opinion is the essence of democracy. There's no reason why anyone should feel any particular respect for an elected politician. Regarding politicians with skepticism and contempt is far more healthy. Confusing the person of an elected politician with the idea of the majesty of the state itself is dangerous, and creates a spawning ground for fascism.

Since it seems the tendency towards worship, reverence and respect is an ineradicable part of human nature, the people who feel such emotions should be given a powerless vessel, such as a monarch without substantial powers, or a President whose role is honorific only, like in Germany, to direct them towards. Allowing an elected politician to be regarded as the living embodiment of the state's majesty, as happens in America, will ultimately bring disastrous consequences in its wake.

Respect means to be nice and kind, that doesn't mean you have to say you absolutely love the current president. You should just show him respect.
