People, especially teenagers, tend to spend too much time focusing on clothes...more than once have i been made fun of for what i wear... I ignore it and go on...no big deal

I agree. Fashion isn't important. Fair enough if people wish to look good, but there is no need to place so much importance on it. Personally, I don't care what clothes are in or not in at the moment. All that matters is that I have something to wear!

Without question they do. Who cares what kind of clothes you wear? Who cares about how much makeup you have on? People who follow fashion are those who are terrified to just be themselves, they always have to be led around by the nose because they have no positive self-identity.

Get over it, grow up and decide what you want to wear on your own.

Of course. Our whole world is basically around fashion. That's why I think Schools should wear uniforms so people don't have to fuss over oooo whats that fashion today, or No mom that was so yesterday. Our world is corrupting with the stupidest things

Amen to this viewpoint!
Yes, our culture is obsessed with how “clothes make the man.” In psychological studies, employees who are dressed the most nicely get the promotions and make more money, regardless of their real job performances.
Teens are particularly vulnerable to feeling inadequate if they are not dressed in the latest fashions, as dictated by my favorite bogeyman, TV, and magazines. Some kids actually kill themselves because they cannot compete in the completion to buy the latest fashions.
I worked for a newspaper that had a policy that all male reporters had to wear ties, except from Memorial Day to Labor Day. As if they got more respect and were seen as more professional for the other eight months!
The concept of “casual Fridays” -- during which normally nicely dressed workers can wear tennis and jeans -- belies the whole professional-dress code theory that nice clothes are ultra-important.

People will waste their money on labels that are worth the price of non-label clothes.

If you know what colors you look best in, and what colors make you feel the most positive or what you FEEL good wearing that particular day, who cares what is "In"?

There is a point where ANYTHING can be taken to an unattractive new level : fashion included.
I think as a hobby, fashion is fun and creative and a great way to enjoy yourself and express yourself like poetry is.
As an edict? NO. I would never let anyone tell me what to wear. That is just fascism. No thank you.

I think that the only role that the magazines and the runway play in the fashion scene is:

1. Fantasy.
2. Directional.

Some people really do not have the slightest interest in fashion. That is okay. Some people also have no interest in Art either. That is okay too. I do not feel that way myself, because nearly ALL of my own talents are in the Arts fields, but I accept and know that alot of folks do not have my art-thing going on, maybe they are accountants or mathematicians: which I definitely am not nor ever could be.
everyone has their own interests and talents. I know that and I accept that.

Back to fashion dictates?

I like both pink and green equally. I love COLORS!!!
I do not follow the fashion rules and never have. I have a mind of my own and i use it well; I think everyone should decide for themselves what's cool and what's out. "Know Thyself".

Fashion is pretty important...its not about fitting in really...its more just staying up to date.....who really wants to dress like they are from the pilgrim era......and i would say fashion is more important than lets say hunting, fishing, mowing your lawn, going to work....just for the simple fact that you would want to look good doing it......and in today's fashion....

"hunting, fishing," wow what i look like is more important than having meat on the table.
" mowing your lawn," about the same as fashion neither really help just a useless vanity thing"
"going to work" comon how can you say anything that illogical. For one you couldn't afford your fashion without work now could you and how do you expect to survive without money in our society.
I really hope everything you wrote is sarcasm or else i hope your wearing a helmet when the real world hits you.

I cant even begin to wonder how someone could ever think that people do not love fashion, and in the true lover there is passion.

Fashion is a way of expressing yourself. If yo feel people make to big of a deal of it then your also saying they express them selves to much. I personally love fashion but i'm not a maniac about it some people love it and some people hate it it just depends who you are.

I think that people enjoy fashion, it's like saying people put too much value in hunting (which you obviously "make too big of a deal" about seeing as it's your username).

There is no such thing as making "too big a deal about fashion", having pride in your appearance surely is not a bad thing.
In my experience the only people who don't care about fashion are the very young, the very old, the obese, and those who've completely given up.
You don't have to have your nose buried deep in a cosmo to care about fashion - granted..... But I'd rather take a pride in my appearance and be stylish, than being an outdated, unfashionable, and self conscious mess.
