People Are Unable To Discuss The Weakness In Their Own Political Parties.
Prove me wrong. Tell me what’s wrong with the people who supposedly represent your political views.

A “new” user, respire, gave gottfried a warning about me. Too early for a “new” user to know how I debate… He told gottfried not to have anything to do with me because I am…get this…quick-witted.... Read more...

It doesn't take a genius to see that you wrote "spitfire" before I commented. I was making a joke. Quick witted isnt even bad. If I said you were slow witted, maybe you should be concerned. Remind me never to pay you a compliment - I never intended to offend you.

Perhaps it is merely that weak people see the need to associate their views with a particular political party, to begin with. No one owns my political views.

Are you telling me you never in your life affiliated yourself with a political party?

If they were willing to discuss their weaknesses, would there be any weakness left at the end of the day? You cannot discuss a weakness if you see it as a strength.

My point is that people do see the problems yet they would still rather discuss the shortfalls of their opponents because it's more comfortable territory.

I'm independent, so it's actually true that people are unable to discuss the weakness in my political party.

I wouldn't say it is the weaknesses in the parties but of the weaknesses in the ideologies that they choose to follow. For example liberalism runs the risk of becoming socialist or even communist. Or too liberal, such as letting immigration run out of control because you want to be fair to everyone. While conservatism always runs the risk of being downright psychotic and fanatical, such as killing an abortion doctor or a nail bomber blowing up a gay bar, etc I could go on. People do not see the weaknesses of the ideologies and the extremes that they can go to. It is only a small point but I'll go on this side.

My point is that often they do see but choose to ignore. But more importantly, I want to hear something that disappointed you personally.

If there was a party in existence that actually represented my views, you might have a point, but there isn't. I've been a registered Republican for about 25 years or so and they don't represent me at all. They're better than the Democrats in most things, certainly better than any of the third parties, but I still disagree with about 75% of everything they have to say.

I'd kill to actually have a party that represented what I consider to be important views in the political arena.

That's a bit of a cop out. You obviously considered yourself more of a Republican at one point but are dissatisfied. So spill how the group that should have been representing you lost you.

Too liberal is to naive, to conservative is borderline Nazi.
We need the two, to hopefully find a balance.

Borderline 'Nazi"? Do you have any understanding of history? Please, give me examples to back up your statement.

Well, I only just got into politics recently, so cut me a break. But I will say that conservatives seem to be very close-minded. I listen to talk radio a lot, and every time a liberal gets on the phone they slam them down almost immediately. Anyone who's listened to Mark Levin can tell you that. And Rush Limbaugh seems pretty conceited.

I will say I associate with Christians for the sake of argument. I gotta defend peeps, ya know?

But I will remain in politics. Republican's vs Democrats... Not much between them. Republicans are trying to be more like Dems... They are well compromised.

Discussing weakness where I put my beliefs though is an interesting thing to ask. I would love to get into that.

Well once I was a democrat until I realized that no one had any intentions to try and solve any problems. It was all about setting up a perpetual milking machine to ‘treat’ but never cure everything from poverty to racial issues to workers rights etcetera... Sort of like pharmacy companies and pimples there is simply much more money it treating something forever and ever than there could ever be in curing something.

Well, I for one don't have party at this time. I will tell you why I am no longer a Republican though.

They are spineless. They let the Dem's play them like a fiddle. Every time a Dem makes an accusation, the Repub's drop everything and go on a 'not me!' offensive instead of just sticking to their guns. So much legislation that needed to be passed was not because the Repub's hated to be called 'mean'. So much legislation WAS passed in order to appear 'compassionate', need, Constituitonality or budget be damned.

Lastly, in order to try and appeal to the middle, they governed from the middle. Either party will infuriate their base if they do that and the base it what gets you elected. They are your workhorses.

Now, your turn.....

 Republicans are also good liars.
Democrats are the spineless ones. They are blowing it as we speak.
