Debating is really about stating your opinion on a matter and trying to convince people of what you think. But now people are just taring each other down and making people feel stupid that's not what debating is all about.
A debate is supposed to be a civilized forum to give an argument for or against a topic. I have
noticed that an awful lot of people on the web site, can't give a proper argument without calling
those of the opposite side of a question names. They are the uncivilized who should not post in a
debate. Also you should be respectful of the other persons opinion.
You are quite right. This forum, like most is not structured to debate and find consensus. Go to
www.thoughtitthrough.com to be able to debate properly. It is specifically designed to attack the
issue - not each other - unlike other discussion forums.
Your right, but the sad truth is, in a forum like this, it's hard to have a true debate because any
and all idiots will post their lame thoughts. I like to try and always post something worthwhile in
any debate that has caught my eye, but sometimes it's hard to do that when you read some of the
stupid things that some people post.
I think so. I found this website looking for good debate practice. All i got was people making fun
of others. Sure, I saw some god posts, but that sure is not debate. I would like to see people
arguing other peoples arguments and also come up with new ones.
Sometimes my husband will take a stand for or against something even if it's not something he really believes, just to get a good debate started. Nothing personal, just good entertainment and mind exercise.
Absolutely true. It's like a good argument with a spouse or friend. No one should be hateful and get
personal or take offense. Just state your case and don't get ugly.
I really haven't found that here yet. Maybe I don't allow it to happen. But I also have options to
go to similar debate sites, and I do. So I'm not married to the drama that may arise here with
personal attacks.
