I love peanut butter, and despise jelly.
I eat my peanut butter sandwiches with marshmallows or bananas. |

I like jam, but peanut better is definitely better. |

Peanut butter is what makes a peanut butter and jelly sandwich great, not the jam. If we wanted to
enjoy the taste of jam, we could simply pop two slices of bread into the toaster, add a bit of
magarine and then scoop on our favourite jelly. But most of us who grew up in North America have
fond memories of PB&J sandwiches, mainly because we fancy peanut butter and not because we are super
excited about jam. We only really use jelly to add a little sweetness and moisture to the sandwich,
as otherwise the peanut butter would be rather dry. As such, the key ingredient will always be
peanut butter. I like to compare it to French fries and ketchup; the latter is merely a garnishing,
but not absolutely essential. If anyone still thinks that jelly is better than peanut butter, they
should ask themselves why few people eat jam with a spoon, while this is not uncommon with PB?
Although peanut butter sandwiches are great and while I still enjoy one occasionally, they are
unfortunately very high in calories. One tablespoon of peanut butter contains 90 calories. When you
add two slices of bread and a spoonful of jam, you're up to around 310 calories. |

As a matter of fact I think that sounds good right about now. With a cool glass of milk. |

I believe that in an average peanut butter and jelly sandwich that the first bite you take all you
can really taste is peanut butter. Peanut butter must then be king in a PB & J sandwich. |

At the moment, it isn't, due to the current contamination.
But I look forward to when it is OK to eat peanuts again, because I LOVE peanut better with jelly.
GRAPE jelly, to be exact. Eating peanut butter alone is like eating "tasty paste". |

Peanut butter needs jelly to compliment it. Remember it takes two to tango. Also there were two of
every animal on Noah's Ark. |
