Paying $100 Or More For Jeans That Look Like They Came From A Thrift Store Is Downright Idiotic.
People who like the torn look could just as easily go out to Goodwill and find naturally torn jeans there for much less than the ridiculous prices that they pay for machine torn jeans.
Is that still the style. That was ridiculous in the 70's when they did it. The good part was that I
looked stylish in highschool even though we were broke. The rich kids jeans and my jeans looked the
same it's just mine cost 25 cents.
I always thought that was crazy too. I heard a comedian once argue that we should give crisp new
(unripped, unfaded) jeans to the homeless, thus clothing them, and by the time they wear them down
to threads we can take them back and sell them to the rich and stylish. You accomplish both
clothing the homeless and appeasing the stylish. And since unripped jeans are NOT in style you
still succeed in marginalizing the homeless because yeah they'll have nice new jeans on but they
won't be in style will they?
I sort of agree. I buy shirts and tops at thrift stores, but I cannot wear pants through which I
know some other girl has passed wind--if you catch my drift. For the same fastidious reason, I
cannot buy used shoes or (yuck) used under garments.
So I understand why someone who wants that old jeans look will not buy them used.
It is not idiotic it may be that these people have self-esteem problems and have to be like everyone
else. That does not make them or their actions idiotic.
You are not paying for the Jeans but the name. Western society puts value on things that are
popular. Has nothing to do with quality.
Why do you think companies use celebrities to sell or endorse products they generally don't use?
Because Westerners are too dumb to decipher between quality and gimmick.
