Frankly, I am unsure about Catholicism. I am sure, however, that God hates it that Christianity is
divided between Protestants (such as myself) and Catholics. |

The fact is always a fact. And the fact is that a number of 1-13 years children are baptized into
the Roman Catholic Church. And the reason is only to get the admission into the Catholic schools.
Why are the parents usually biased for the Catholic schools? This is the reality that Roman Catholic
Church schools are very much competent in the production of making highly successful students. So if
the anxious parents baptized their children into the Roman Catholic Church school, this should be
justified and should not be considered as the humiliation to the religion. People should think the
fact in a broader view and should not judge this as the religion insult because reality can not be
ignored. The Roman Catholic Church schools are proved to be better in order to make the proper
students. |

I'm for it only because I can understand why parents want the best for their children and their
education.
With low educational standards in some catchment areas, parents will take different steps to ensure
a good education for their children.
Catholic schools, these days have gained something of a reputation for higher standards then other
schools in the same areas.
However this does beg the question of how much they are prepared to have their children educated
into Catholicism too.
Older children , for example those of secondary school age, presumably have been given the choice
regarding baptism which they will see as a route to a better education rather than religious
belief.
The Catholic church has commented that they are pleased that their schools are seen to be higher
standard than those of other denominations . |

It is so not a valid reason for joining the church. And the thing is you'll most probably never see
them in a church again. |

People should not abuse the process of baptism, perceiving it as a mere way for better education.
Baptism is a contract between you and God, and it is an insult to the faith when this contract is
materialistically manipulated. |

I'm not catholic, but i do think that it is wrong to get baptized just for a school.
Kids should make their own decisions on whether they want to be baptized or not, and most kids from
1-5 don't really know what they want besides a cookie. |

I was raised catholic and went to a public catholic school. Its wrong to baptise a child so they can
go to school, and its wrong not to let non catholics in to catholic schools. |

I'm also against it. Baptism is not just some tool that should be used to get your children the
proper education. Baptism is a public display of ones acceptance of the Lord Christ Jesus. It's not
a green card to get into school. By parents doing this, it is watering down what baptism is, and
making it look much less serious and spiritual. Which is exactly why believe parents shouldn't be
allowed to do it. The only time someone should be baptized is when they have truly taken on the
responsibilities of being a Christ-follower, and when they are truly ready to let people know that
they have found their Savior. |

I do not believe that children should be baptized in the Catholic religion so they can attend the
school. This is not the reason why baptism is practiced. People get baptized to be saved and to
accept Jesus Christ as their savior. It is something very sacred and dear. If parents are baptizing
their children so they can attend the Catholic school, then in a sense, they are making fun of Jesus
and using the situation for their benefit. Only those people who are serious about the Catholic
religion and are dedicated to practicing it faithfully should be permitted to be baptized in the
Catholic church.
If parents want options other than the public schools, there are private schools and charter schools
available. They should not be using the Catholic church simple because they do not like the public
schools. There are several other education alternatives available. Leave the Catholic schools for
the real Catholic people. |

I think it's very wrong to have children and young people baptised for on-religious reasons.
The number of 1-13 year olds being baptised into the Roman Catholic faith is out of proportion to
the number who actually practice the religion.
We should be discouraging schools based on religious prejudices. Separating children on the grounds
of their religion leads to religious intolerance, divisions in society and racism in some cases.
The standard of non-denominational schools needs to rise to stop parents doing this.
I think that children should be allowed to follow the religion of their own choice or none at all
and shouldn't be used as pawns by their parents.
It's understandable that parents will want the best education for their children but this isn't the
way forward. |
