Yeah i agree.. Its no use being wrapped up in cotton wool for your whole childhood how are you meant
to grow emotionally? I saw a mother and her 1 year old a few days ago.. And the one year old was
just walking round on the grass but wasn't too steady on her feet and the mother kept jumping to the
baby every time she thought she was going to fall and then had a go at the father of the baby for
putting her on the slide because she cud of "hurt herself" and then they left and i overheard the
mother say is wasn't a safe place.. For the whole time the mother was on edge and jumpy..let the
child fall down... One example of a guaranteed cotton wool kid.. And i could go on. |

Parents actually, in general, need tp be more protective of their children. Too many let them run
wild and don't even pay attention to their children. I think it is awful, especially with all the
things that are happening to children these days. It is not safe anywhere no matter what you think. |

I agree, parents, although it may not be easy with all the dangers there may be, but they
need to give there children more autonomy. |

As a non-parent, it’s easy for me to agree with this viewpoint, based on my observations.
The world is not as a threatening, dangerous, or perverted place parents think it is. I do not
subscribe to the notion that kids are more at risk now of accidents, sexual predation, drugs, etc.
Than they were when I was a kid in the 1960s. Simply, the media has convinced parents this is
true.
My friend Rick raised his boy to be an extreme achiever in outdoors activities. Austin was an
accomplished backpacker, rock climber, and skier by age 10. Rick’s philosophy was, if Austin got
hurt -- and he did -- it was a learning experience.
In the Third World, children are not coddled and protected. Indeed, they are put to work at age 7,
watching younger siblings. Give a child independence and responsibility, and he will become a better
adult. |

I defiantly agree with this. Parents are so over protective that they come to make their children
commit suicidal attempts. There should be laws against how protective your parents can be, and to
protect the child's privacy. |

I disagree Jakey (Long time since I've been on here lol)... There are too many teenage pregnancies
and teenagers getting belligerently drunk without their parents knowing or really caring. While I
agree that teenagers should be given some sort of independence, parents should also know where there
children are at all times, and know who they're with. |

You shouldn't let your children out of your sight until they are at least two and after tat only be
with those you can trust until they are at least 14. |
