| Our Life Is Meaningless. We Are On This Earth For No Reason At All. |
| If there is no God, our life is meaningless. If you come down to it, everything we do in our lives is pointless because we are just going to die in another 70 years or whatever, buried in the ground, and forgotten. I don't actually believe this, but I want to know what you think. |

Yes, there is no meaning of life, the fact the the planet earth is able to support life at all is
that it meets a list of almost unreachable requirements. And yes we will work all our lives and then
we die. But we give our lives our own purposes and goals. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
I agree. If you take God out of the equation, life is meaningless. Although you might have an
opinion on what your purpose is, the reality would come down to the fact that you eat, deficate, and
after 70-80 years, die. At death, you would no longer be cognizant of relationships/all the fun
times you had in life/etc. Your existence is basically boiled down to a nanosecond in the history
of the universe, and noone will remember you or anything you did 1,000 years from now. |
| |
|
| |

Yes, life is meaningless - completely and utterly void of any meaning whatsoever - yet this does not
sentence us the a lifetime of unhappiness. It does not prevent us from living a worthwhile life and
so, in my opinion at least, makes no difference to my life at all. We should not be afraid of
meaninglessness. |
| |
|
| |
|

|

Too many people are afraid of this. Make you're own meaning for life! Stop hiding behind God, make
your own goals. Don't worry if we all die in 70 years. All I'm saying is that it's your life. |

Just because something has no objective meaning doesn't make it meaningless. Your life can have
intrinsic value; Cure cancer, invent something useful. Life is like a dollar bill. It has no real
worth(its just a piece of cotton with writing on it) but we all agree that it has worth. Life is
ultimately meaningless, but you can find purpose and meaning in it. |

This is true! Life has no point. Which is why religions came about. To give people something to look
forward to, supposedly anyway. Still there is no point we still die and still don't know why we
exist. |

|

|

This has been debated for thousands of years and will be debated for a thousand more...we will never
know, but I'm drawn to this side of the fence. I'd like to think my life has purpose, and that I've
left a ripple effect but at the same time I'm a scientist through and through, but then again i
think there's a difference between the meaning of life and the significance of life as well.
One thing is concrete we live we die, what we do with the time in between you've got to make count |

I agree that there is no underlying reason or meaning to life, and thus it is ultimately pointless
(in the literal sense of the word), but this certainly does not stop us enjoying it! |

Very good topic but could you explain what is god and any evidence to your explanation. There is no
such thing as god in a formal society i would like to ask the people not to post any topics related
to god! I strongly appeal people to look at this matter! READ THIS IMPORTANT! READ THIS
IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Just because there is no God does not mean all life or human life is meaningless ( note I don't
believe in god either ). But I think the world is more beautiful and full of mystery because there
is no god. For one our paths are made by ourselves and other that are gone and the people that are
still here all of us connected by the pursuit of happiness, love, and respect in this vast universe
full of many possibilities. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|

Thinking life is meaningless just because there may not be a God is like a child who throws a
tantrum and screams, "I wont eat my dinner if I cannot have the desert I want."
If atheists can find meaning in life believing there is no God, than Christians can find meaning in
life considering the prospect of there not being a God. This is where Christians can learn from
atheists about loving life just because it is. |

Everyone's life has a meaning even if it seems meaningless. Truly you wont just rot in the ground
when you die because there is an after life. Some greater entity created the place we live in and
the things around it. Everything didn't just come into existence it was created. Even using science
and logic you can figure out that the universe didn't create itself |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
If life has no meaning we never should have found out that it has no meaning.
Like if the world had no light therefore creatures with no eyes, thw word dark would have no meaning |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
I don't believe there is a reason to be here... I think we're supposed to find our own.
As an atheist, sometimes I can feel a slight case of nihilism creeping in at the borders...
...but all it takes to banish it is the smile of a pretty woman. The meaning of life is the joy of
it. |
| |
|
| |

Even if you are an atheist you can still find meaning in life. You can find the specialness of the
individual and the amazing potential within. Just looking at the sublime abilities of man like love
and passion and our appreciation of beauty. The creativity of the human spirit and our elevation to
our highest point is enough to inspire meaning in life as a noble thing in and by itself.
Adding spirituality to it elevates it even more so, and ties everything together.
I honestly cannot think of a more depressing way of going through life that to think there is no
point. Even if you help another person you are making purpose by elevating your own being. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Life is NOT meaning less.... God has put us here for a reason. No matter what the reason is we are
here and we have to live life! Don't think that it is meaningless because it never is! You are here
for a reason it is your choice to find that reason! |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
You might as well end it now then mate |
| |
|
| |
|
| |

If you think life has no meaning, then I don't see how you could be happy unless you get high
through artificial means like drugs and alcohol. Life's meaning is to find happiness through your
friends and family. The way to measure your wealth is by how many true friends you have, not how
much money or things you have. And by how well loved you are by your family. When you have true
friends and a loving family, then you won't feel the need to think about life's meaning, as you are
living the meaning. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
Who created you is the first question you need to ask yourself, another is what do you think you
were created for, then comes the actual answer, you are here on this earth to glorify the one and
True God, and while you are on earth and you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and
only way to heaven, then you start storing up treasures in heaven that you will one day throw at
Christ's feet!!!! And if you accept the free gift of salvation, you will find that in heaven God
has a mansion waiting for you, by the streets of gold, as it is described in the Bible!!!! It's
just great, and makes life worth living, even though you will go through hard times and trials, it
still seems worth the pain, if you consider the pain and suffering Jesus Christ went through for you
on the cross so that you could go to heaven!!! -here is a website i would like you to check out,

Which once again strengthens the fact that Christianity is true!!! |

Our life is devoid of OBJECTIVE meaning. Not subjective. A persons life has as much meaning as their
accomplishment. We might not have any sort of divine purpose, but that doesn't mean we can't have a
purpose in carrying on our species. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
God exists so if you think this way I'm sorry for you but I'm going to get the gift of eternal life |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
God does exist and we are on Earth to serve him until we die and go to heaven, if you're a
Christian, and Hell, if you're not. |

This is quite absurd topic to make a debate. I am highly supportive to the life and I enjoy my life
very much. Life is a very precious thing and no one has the right to abuse this life in any way. If
we do not come and have our life how could we get the experience of what the life is? Our life
trains us to survive from many obstacles, it helps us to get the new experiences everyday, and it
gives us the opportunities to explore our potentiality in order to get self-satisfied as well as
satisfying the others. The modern science which is only the achievements of human brains is
completely possible for those people who were & who are full of energy to live and explore life
everyday. So life can not be meaningless, it’s full of opportunities and no limits of enjoyment. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
I disagree with this, I believe in the 'Sanctity of Life" - life is a precious thing, full of
opportunity. Think of everything that living a life enables you to do. If you did not live, you
would have no such experience of opportunities, you would meet no one, have no relationships, not be
able to have a family, not be able to pursue your interests, the list doesn't end.
And what's most important, is that it gives you such choice - ultimately, you choose how you live,
and so even if you are not religious, life is almost a test for yourself, an opportunity to make
something of it, to achieve what you wish to achieve, to feel as if you have lived life as a good
person, or a bad person, to assess the wrong and right decisions you have made.
Life is a precious thing, full of choice and opportunity, with no limits as to what you can achieve,
if you put your mind to it. |

The reason for life? God.
God is real, he does exist. The whole point of our life on Earth is to prepare ourselves for the
after-life- Heaven or Hell. Our Earth life is a test, and the finishing grade will stick with us for
eternity, never to end. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
That is the most absurd thing i've ever heard. How can you say that? There are SO MANY people in
this world who have added meaningful contributions to human society. The contributions for martin
luther king jr. Even though he never lived to see his efforts play out in history, his life helped
millions of people.
I guess it depends on your definition of meaningless. To me, helping people has a lot of meaning. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
|
This is not true. Everyone's life has meaning, but not everyone is able to determine their meaning.
It is hard to determine your life's meaning, but it is not impossible. No ones life is meaningless.
Everything we do in life has a purpose and does has an impact. It is true that some things we do
have a bigger impact than others.
The meaning in your life is basically how you see it. If you do things with a clear purpose in mind,
then you will see the meaning. However, if you just do things without purpose, without thought, and
just because you have to do it, then you will not see the purpose or meaning. Regardless, I believe
there is a God and he has given each of us a life full of meaning and purpose. To think otherwise,
it totally absurd. |
