Ouija Boards Are Bad Business. You Should Never Use One.

Supposedly, spirits are more easily contacted between 2:00-5:00AM...This is said to be due to the fact that they can better communicate during the hours where there is more moisture (dew...I think) because of something about their electroconductivity with the moisture. I only know this because my sister is a big fan of Sylvia Browne and that is evidently what she learned in books written by her. You're more brave than I am. I had one of the "toy" ones and got totally freaked out by the thing. I was to the point where I was even afraid to have it in the house, but there were some complicated rules about getting rid of it or bad things would happen. My mom tossed it in the trash. I was terrified she would be killed that very day, but nothing seemed to happen due to her disposal of the Ouija Board. I do, however, still think that they are (maybe one has to have the "gift" of communicating with spirits to make them work?) a tool to contact spirits and, in my opinion, that is a realm that I don't want a part of personally. Let the mediums do it....NOT me....I'm a chicken and will totally admit it. You're so big and brave : ) lol (j/k)....I'm not making fun of you. I really have feared them since I was way to young to even understand them. I freaked when I was about 5 years old and a friend had one. Why? I should have thought nothing of it. Still, looking at it, I sensed something was not good about it. In your case, maybe fun and games with it are not it's actual intent and that has saved you from those bad spirits....not sure. I'm getting the chills thinking of it. Maybe you better not play with it anymore. I'm rambling....worse than even normal and not sure if I'm making sense. That is how terrified I am of them. Oh no....I'll be up all night now. Nah, I'll sleep, but I do have chills and the hair on the back of my neck is standing up thinking of it. Be careful, K?

It’s just a piece of cardboard with letters and numbers written on it. It’s not magical and it doesn’t contact spirits. The driving force behind the Ouija board isn’t the dead. It’s the ideomotor effect. Your mind pictures movement and your body involuntarily follows. I even tested that little hypothesis out myself. I realized that, even when under the use of someone who believes in the board’s legitimacy, the responses it gives to questions are only ones the controller of the pointer knows the answers to. It won’t give correct answers to questions the controller of the pointer doesn’t know. Why? Because the user of the board is unknowingly the mastermind behind the entire process. For example, I had my brother use it and I asked a series of questions he couldn’t possibly know the answers to. The pointer either gave a none-applicable answer or didn’t move at all. Another thing I tested out was how it works differently between someone who believes it’s spiritual and someone who doesn’t. When my cousin used the board, it seemed to move a lot more than when I used it, even though I had him ask the same simple questions I did the first time. That seems to imply that believing the board is magic assists in its function, which furthers my point about it being nothing but the ideomotor effect.

Overall, I think it’s safe to say that there’s nothing to fear from Ouija boards. I literally broke every rule I was told not to when using it and nothing’s happened yet. Like Sylvia Browne, the Ouija board’s just a rouge to get your money.
