Organ donation should be made mandatory, I mean, imagine all the lives that will be saved! After
all, what are you going to do with your organs when you die? Can you possible take them with you
wherever you do go? Nothing can be a more valuable and precious gift than giving the gift of life!

I am a corneal transplant patient. I was on the waiting list for nine months for my first eye and
three for my second. Mine was not a life-threatening condition; if I had needed a liver or lung, I
may have died by then.
My vision went from 20/400 -- almost legally blind -- to 20/70 in one eye. It was a miracle, made
possible by an individual’s selfish donation of tissue.
The demand for transplantable tissue far, far exceeds the supply; this is especially true in organs.
There are now more than 40 body parts that can be stripped from a cadaver for transplantation.
Based on my experience, I cannot see the logic in any argument (save some religious objections)
against deciding to donate tissue. The bottom line, folks, is ya just can’t take it with you. So,
yes, I agree donation should be mandatory. |

Sounds like you are some kind of volunteer. But some people are not willing to give up their body
parts even after they have died.
That is their right.
And a sacred one at that. |

No. They are MY guts and you can't have them.
That's just creepy.
Human beings have dignity: Are NOT a used car-parts-lot.
Go find some other person to gut, and stay out of my way. |

It's organ "donation," not just mandatory organ "harvesting," which would be pretty scary. This
means people *willingly* give their organs. Others have a right to choose not to, just as they can
choose whether to be buried or cremated. What about religious beliefs? Our bodies are much more
personal (lol!) than our belongings, and we can write wills to say what's to happen with our
belongings. |

Organ donation is the process by which a person agrees to give any of his organs after his or her
death to some other patient who is suffering from such a problem where any of his organs have been
damaged and is real need of a donor. Thus with the help of one’s organ someone else is getting
cured. Now till this far it was an optional process and it was not compulsory for everyone as not
everybody wishes to share his or her organs after their death. Thus somebody used to take the
decision in donating the organ whereas somebody used to refuse to donate. In fact there should not
be any compulsion to the process as not everybody wants to share as everybody has got the right to
decide about their personal issues in such a country like the United States of America. |

No, what if there is a defection with the organ. |
