| Not All Vegetarians Are Practicing The Way Because Of Animal Reasons. |
| When people hear the word vegetarian, they think of person who does not eat meat because they believe it's wrong to kill any species of animals. Some practice it because of their health, because of an experience. Meat is dangerous when it is raw and undercooked. So just because someone says they are vegetarians, don't think that they are the kind that want to protect all animals |

I would be a vegie if I could be bothered with all the Fiddle Faddle.
When they are freshly picked vegetables are lovely, they don't even need cooking, but after only a
few hours they are practically tasteless.
Consequently they require a great deal of preparation and flavoring.
Meat on the other hand needs hardly any futzing around with. |

I used to be a Vegan one time, so I know a little something about this whole deal, okay? ;-)
There are MANY levels of being a vegetarian, OK?
1. VEGAN = Purist. (zero animal anything),
2. OVO-VEGETARIAN = all vegetable-kingdom plus eggs.
3. LACTO/OVO-VEGETARIAN = milk, eggs, vegetarian.
4. "BACK- SLIDER' VEGAN" = veggies only but wears leather. |

Not every one is against eating animals just because they are vegetarians. |

Well...no. That's not entirely true. Meat CAN be dangerous when undercooked, but that's because the
filth of our slaughterhouses introduce new pathogens into our food. Yes, these CAN be killed by
cooking meat properly, but others, like TSEs (transmissible spongiform encephalopathies - better
known as variants of Mad Cow disease) have resisted all known methods of sterilization. Aside from
that, I agree with 'chispa'. Many people are vegans or vegetarians for ALL those reasons (i.e. Me!).
But yes, some vegetarians choose to do so for their health, some for the environment, some for the
world, and some for the animals. And some for all of those things. Again, like me. :) |

There are two main types of vegetarians: Those who abstain from eating meat for moral reasons, and
those who do so for their health. There is a third, lesser-known group that objects to the waste of
crops to produce meat.
Dietitians agree that we should all reduce the amount of red meat we consume to protect our arteries
and colons. We must eat more whole-grain products and five servings of produce daily. Protein
sources should include more dairy, eggs, and legumes.
In short, we must essentially become vegetarians.
Many vegetarians still eat chicken and fish, objecting to red meat for its higher cholesterol
content and to how much soy -- that could be eaten by humans instead -- it takes to produce just one
pound of beef.
A friend who’s into cat-rescue operations, recently decided to become a vegetarian for moral
reasons: She couldn’t foster one species while eating others. |

I'm a vegetarian because I don't like the taste of meat..
There is an element of looking at a slab of murdered muscle which is disgusting, but if meat is
treated properly and cooked properly it should be pretty safe..
Although with the amount of preservatives, additives and modified grain products fed to these
animals I believe the long term effects will be shown to have an effect.. |
