| No, There Aren't Better Ways. |
| It annoys me when people, in a scientific debate, say 'well there are better ways of doing [certain scientific process] than [the current controversial method]', such as embryonic stem cell research and vivisection etc. Do these people think that scientists are an evil race of people with no morals? Just because something is more ethical, it doesn't make it a 'better' way of doing it. Scientists are, ultimately, trying to discover more about the world and help humanity, and they have to take everything into consideration when choosing the method of doing something. It's just ignorance. |

I know, it annoys me too, if there were better ways they would use them. |

Although sometimes there genuinely is "a better way" I do agree with you that most of the time what
science is proposing is the best alternative they could come up with based on their current
knowledge. And certainly some things, like stem cells, have no better way at the present time. |

Those who claim stemcell research is "abortion" and "unethical" are blatantly ignorant of the facts.
All ova that are used are donated; the women who do had no intention of ever becoming pregnant, and
the eggs would have ended up in the toilet.
Does that make all women murderers for not getting pregnant at every opportunity, or does it make
the rabidly religious look stupid and dishonest? |

I made a comment in another debate, that said the are other ways than stem cell research, possibly
you are referring to my comment.
Yet I work in a scientific field, dealing with the mind. You would be amazed what the mind and body
can do, when they are congruent in healing the body.
I actually help people get rid of their diseases,
because I work with their CAUSES, not just the symptoms.
Lets see...stem cell research for Muscular dystrophy......dystrophy means malnutrition
WHY do you need stem cells to get rid of malnutrition? Just another scam to get money for research
projects. P.S. They had cures for MD back in the 1930's......do a little research,
but there wasn't any money in it. |

Well, that is silly and unscientific reasoning. I think the real issue is that "other methods" do
not "fit" with your view. Is it not "scientific" to constantly search for "better methods"? There
was a time that it was accepted as fact that the world was round...in fact, people were ridiculed
(at the least) for suggesting otherwise. Shall we go there as you suggest by cutting off debate?
Oddly, you described the "other method as "more ethical". You not not put quotes around that word to
qualify it. So that must be what you think. If that is the case, why not use it? It sounds as if you
are as dogmatic about your view as you seem to be inferring about others.
See? You are apparently as closed minded and 'ignorant" as those you fault. |
