Yes. Atheism does not believe in a higher purpose to life just like nihilism.

I am a Muslim.

You lack understanding of the term Nihilism, Nihilism is a philosophical position that existence is without meaning, atheism is the absence of belief in deities. Being a Muslim, you could also be a Nihilist since it is congruent with your belief system, however it would be contradictory to be Muslim and an Atheist, although I have met a few Muslims that could argue this point.

You can come up with subjective meaning for your animal life, but that's it. If you're an Atheist.

As stated below, just because Atheism and Nihilism are compatible they are by no means the only combination. Atheists can and do find meaning in life, other people and even the wonder of nature without believing in God.

So is this meaning inherent and built in or do you give it meaning? I believe both, but what do you believe?
1. If it is built in, you have proven Christianity
2. If it is something you give, you are a typical atheist.

Debate topics like this show the disdain cultists have for empirical evidence. It's clear to anyone with eyes to observe that there are people who are atheists and yet are not nihilists. Therefore the debate topic is absurd from its inception. The face that cultists believe that one thing implies another, when it manifestly does not, says more about the the limits of their understanding than it does about anything else.

Nihilism is a belief that life has no meaning or value. Atheism is a lack of belief in a deity. But one who does not believe in God can certainly value their existence. Life is filled with experiences, like love and family, or just music and food, that are highly enjoyable and inspiring. An atheist can easily subscribe to the belief that the purpose of life is to enjoy living, and perhaps to help others enjoy living. God, religion, traditional morality, or a belief in some sort of afterlife are not necessary to find a reason to live.

Frankly, a spouse or a child is all the reason in the world a reasonable person should need to value or find meaning in life.

By the way, I'm not an atheist.

The godbots like you are the ones looking forward to "armageddon" and the end of the world. You're the one looking forward to the deaths of billions, not atheists. Atheists are the ones hoping to ensure the Earth and all species survive global warming and wars.

Not only are you a nihilist, you're a denialist. But why should I expect any different from a hypochristian who thinks "lying for cheezus" is perfectly acceptable?

you don't even know what nihilism is. Nihilism is not mindless genocide, that's organized atheism. This is nihilism:
* Objective morality does not exist; therefore no action is logically preferable to any other in regards to the moral value of one action over another.
* In the absence of morality, existence has no intrinsic higher meaning or goal.
* There is no reasonable proof or argument for the existence of a higher ruler or creator.
* Even if a higher ruler or creator exists, mankind has no moral obligation to worship them.
I never said anything about "lying for cheezus"

I've been atheist since 4th grade, but I'm not nihilistic. Life is inspiring and amazing, and there is meaning in what we pass on to future generations. We are surrounded by art and music and sport.

I would also point out that the godless religions do not for the most part embrace nihilism.

Since 4th grade? Did your dog die or something? What happened? Anyway, if I was an atheist I'd probably be a nihilist.
