Christian Evangelicals Are Plotting To Remake America In Their Own Image
Dominionist and Moral Majority founder D. James Kennedy, the most influential evangelical you've never heard of: "Our job is to reclaim America for Christ, whatever the cost," Kennedy says. "We are to exercise godly dominion and influence over our neighborhoods, our schools, our government, our literature and arts, our sports arenas, our entertainment media, our news media, our scientific endeavors -- in short, over every aspect and institution of human society."

Yes, and in exactly the same way that fundy Muslims plan to create a "caliphate": To rule the world through violence and fear. That's what the ignorance of religion gets you.

Bertrand Russell was right. He said communism and Christianity hated each other not because they were so different, but because they were so similar. The same is true of fundy christians and fundy muslims.

Wow, that was a well thought out, reasoned argument. You see two sordid examples but not the thousands of examples of self-sacrificing people that there are. I guess your viewpoint is formed by what you see on TV versus what reality presents you.

Although not true for EVERY Evangelical it is certainly true for SOME of them. Our vigilance is required to make sure freedom and democracy are not swallowed by a new misguided Christian theocracy. That's part of the reason I lash out at bold Christian posts on this site -- it's not that I don't believe in God OR that I'm not Christian, I sincerely believe a secular separation of church and state is essential to safeguard our human rights. Christian extremists have a long rich history of horrible atrocities and oppressions in the name of their pursuit of God. I simply don't trust a Christian-agenda government to do more good than harm.

Are you aware that "separation of church and state" does not occur in the constitution? The amendment simply forbids a state mandated religion or church. And NO, that is not what Christians want, By it's nature, Christianity can only be accepted, not forced. If you mean alot of us want to live by Christian principles, If we can have our beliefs influence government constitutionally, so be it. You have your beliefs, and understandably, you want the government to follow them and we have ours. Read the amendment and honesty will require that you admit that it does NOT say "religious people cannot run government".

I’m sure certain people of the Christian religion would love to do so. I’m actually interested to find out how many Christians would agree to turning America into a theocracy of Christianity if they thought they could get away with it (kind of like finding out how many “good citizens” would rob a bank if they believed they would escape the police). I’m just anxious to see exactly how many Christians would respect the Constitutional right to freedom of religion and how many wouldn't hesitate to force their principles onto to others if given the chance.

I have to agree with you on this one, grokit. An Evangelical extremist group made up of people between the ages of 10 and 30 known as Battle Cry wants to change government policy which calls for mass censorship which includes banning "perverted music" and banning sex education. It's founder, Ron Luce once said "What does a nation with 4% evangelical christians look like?" Also, people are losing their trust in evangelical politicians fearing that they will violate our constitutional rights and even make the Bible into law.

There's no question about it, the Dominionists have a long-term plan for doing just that, it's been a well-known fact for many years. Unfortunately, they're trying to "reclaim" an America that never existed in the first place and one that completely violates the Constitution.

Not that they care or anything.

"Plotting" eh?
Sounds rather paranoid, really. Especially in light of the fact you have no facts to bear on the debate to underscore your opinion.

PROVE IT.

Here we go again for the simple minded. Christian Evangelicals do not fit into one group. They are quite diverse.

Big name there. The one few have heard of. Don't worry, they aren't going to remake America.

Again, what's the difference between extremists and hysteria driven narrow-mindedness. Not much difference to some of us.

Why are there over 30,000 different forms of just Protestantism in the U.S. alone?

Seriously, what is everyone arguing about? It seems to me that it would be more productive to present a united front.

You can see why things might seem a little confusing to non-Christians.

Oh gosh. Here go the tinfoil helmets and black helicopters again..:-) Christian evangelicals are plottong to take over America? Justcool mentions "Battle Cry" and you Cephus mentions "Dominionists". Well, grokit, lots of groups want lots of things and if they want that it does not mean all evangelicals are "plotting". Do you not think that your initial debate kinda lumps all evangelicals in together on that one. You say Christian evangelicals" in your headline but the body of your debate mention a specific group. Define "plotting" please. If you mean by changing the minds of Americans through elections, than so be it. That is the American way. If another way, will you please tell me about it.

No, but all evangelicals will go along with it, as you have stated, "so be it", when the "American way", in my opinion, is to escape religious persecution.

This "fringe element's" message of "love and hope" has "inspired millions of Americans and others worldwide through the institutions he founded, including Coral Ridge Ministries, Knox Theological Seminary, and Westminster Academy."
